I know it is for having the best record in the 1st half of the season, but so does GSW in the west. They are not letting Luke Walton coach it after a historic 1st half of the season ?

So lets see , Luke Walton coaches about 45 games and doesn't get to go, but Ty Lou coaches 3 games and he is automatically the coach ?

This is so ass backwards.....Way to go NBA, Gotta keep the queen happy !

Same team can't send their coach 2 years in a row.  The league wanted to avoid the same coaches going year after year so they restricted how often you can go.

If Lue has some respect for the game, he'll step down from it.

There should be a 20 min for coaches.....Players too.

yea, it's a shame. he doesn't deserve it.

I don't know if I would step down, it's going to another team next year and who knows when he will get another shot at it.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

that is the biggest crock of *&%^ I have heard in the NBA. So basically they think coaches are not big boys? Why do they allow teams to repeat in championship games. Why not make a team step down if they went the year before. That will fit perfectly in the 'everybody wins' liberalization of America, will it not?

so a policy that aims to prevent the same coach going to the ASG two years ago will be used to bar a coach who has one of the best first half records in the history of the game from going to his first ASG. Yeah that is backwards.

This would have been a great opportunity to throw the fans in Toronto a bone and let Casey coach the East.

Dwane Casey got robbed, that is all.

This is utterly disgusting by the NBA imo.

You guys have it wrong.  Most coaches don't mind doing it every once in awhile, but it is a lot of work and it takes away preparation for the second half, so if you made a guy do it year after year he would come up with excuses to not do it.  This way you eliminate some of that.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Guys?  All I did was describe the policy.  But yeah, part of it is that the NBA doesn't want the same coaches there every year, part of it is the coaches don't want to be there every year either.  I doubt Pop's thrilled with having to give up the one long weekend he'd see in a 7-8 month span to go into the circus that is the All-Star festivities.

I agree with Ogaju that this can be blamed on the downfall of society, due to libs and like such as, though.

I sincerely hope that the West squad is going to thrash the East squad. Lue doesn't deserve it, and if he had any decency he would thank no to the offer.

For what it's worth, Gorman said last night that Lue did say he didn't deserve it, so somethind along those lines.

It's quite simple.  The ENTIRE Cavaliers coaching staff is going to All Star Weekend. It's not just about Lue.  The whole staff deserves to go.  Their team is in 1st.

If Casey deserves to go, then he has to get his team in 1st place.  That simple.
