Why would AB even bring this up ?

What good does that do.....

How unprofessional is that

Does he want to be traded?

yes. Then his contract ripped up and a new one created.  5 year 100 million dollar deal

He is not that good ......what a spoiled turd.

Idc I'd honestly be happy if we traded him as long as we got a decent SG in return. Hes my least favorite celtic on the team. He always chokes in crunch time, he struggles to guard bigger 2's, he cannot pass at all, and I'm pretty sure Nerlens Noel can handle the ball better than him. He's also complaining about his contract when Crowder is playing 2x better than him(except for last 2 games) and is making less than him.

AB is 55th best and Noel 312th best in Turnover%. This is such an obvious miss (as Noel has notorious bad hands) as to dismiss checking the rest of your post for accuracy. Maybe you can try to support it with something other than how you feel about him.

He works his butt off and prob should of just signed a one year deal instead

he would of got close to TT money then

but its ridiculous he fired his agent after a done deal.   Thank you man then (after some were stating he should be getting 6-7 million a year tops or trade him) to a 8 million dollar per year deal (some were upset with Ainge).

So thank you then , you are fired now!

Its like I bought a used car for 5k last year. And now it sales on the market for 2.5 K.  Like crap I got ripped off.  why me??

I'm with those who question the legitimacy of Avery switching agents so that must mean he was unhappy with his contract.

Here's the thing, Avery Bradley agreed to his new contract on 7/2/2014.  The new TV deal wasn't announced until 10/6/2014, and doesn't even go into effect until next season.

There was no way to predict when the tv deal would be signed, how much it could be for, and how it would effect the salary cap.  Silver actually wanted to slowly increase the cap over several years (while still giving the extra money to the players) instead of the large, sudden increase we're going to see next year.  Had Silver gotten his way this is likely a non-issue.

I'm sure everybody who signed contracts 2014 and earlier is unhappy with their luck of the draw (like when we saw John Wall say this summer how Reggie Jackson got the same contract as him).  Kind of like I'm sure all the players who signed contracts pre-1996 when the cap first exploded are unhappy they played in the wrong era too.

It's like deciding to sell your company stock that for the last 10 years only gave 1% returns per year on average (which is what the NBA salary cap rose at when adjusted for inflation from '05 to '14), and then 2 years later it spikes up and increases 70% from when you sold it.  Man, your kicking yourself and can't help but think "what if".  While you're unhappy with that move, you're still pretty happy overall, and you know that's just one of those things you can't really ever predict.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Regardless of all of this stuff, I've always thought that now is probably the best time to trade Bradley. He's playing well and a lot of contenders and semi-contenders would give an arm and a leg to have him on their team.

At the same time it's not quite the time to be worried about his contract but I've got no desire to pay him crazy money two years down the road.

Great words from a great man

The use of 'apparently unhappy' should cause concern to the real legitimacy of the comment. Was it heard after a round of Chinese whispers? If you can't be sure somebody is unhappy, and only assume they are 'apparently' unhappy - come back when you have a real story.

AB has been a total pro. He isn't Paul Pierce or even Ray Allen but he is better than average and he has played a significant role in keeping the team competitive in the 'rebuild' CBS era.

All workers compare their salaries, sportsmen are no different. At the end of the day though AB has the advantage of knowing he is a Boston Celtic, none of those other guys can say that.

LOL at the waiting for any reason to jump down AB's throat. All that venom when AB works hard and is one of the professional players even at his young age. Doesn't jump around whining and complaining, just does his job. No one ever has a bad word to say about the guy (except for Celts fans), I'm not talking about game critique, some of this is just plain ridiculous. He never bad talks anyone either and he is very accountable for his own play. Sad.

That's Boston for ya.  Tough crowd.  Not allowed to step out of line here or you're slammed.  Sometimes it's good.  Other times it's overkill.  TP btw for your enjoyable game thread style/commentary.

Sorry if already posted, and bc during Pats game. But G.Washburn, in his Blatt post, had a tidbit about Averys contract:

Quote
Avery Bradley has changed agents from Mitchell Butler of the Rival Sports Group to Rob Pelinka, who also represents Kobe Bryant. Butler was able to procure the oft-injured Bradley a four-year, $32 million contract extension last summer, considered an above-market deal. Now Bradley is apparently unhappy with his contract, especially after seeing players such as Milwaukee’s Khris Middleton (five years, $70 million), Utah’s Gordon Hayward (four years, $61 million), and Cleveland’s Tristan Thompson (five years, $82 million) cash in with lucrative extensions, making Bradley’s deal appear to be a bargain with the new television money increasing the salary cap this summer.

Thoughts? Ainge is a genius.
Celtics fan for life.

If AB was better than he is than he might have a beef but he aint that good to complain. Not even close to being an all star or any NBA award winner. He is a role player. Be glad he gets over the min.

You can never be sure if this is just rumor fodder or not....

http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basketball/25461826/report-celtics-avery-bradley-unhappy-with-contract-situation

I always thought this was a great contract for both parties involved (despite many on here claiming Ainge over paid). Ainge got him on a cheap team friendly deal, and Bradley is getting paid a handsome sum to be a strong defender with just an outside jumper game.

If he wants more money, he's going to have to bring more on the offensive side of the ball. Like learn to pass (keep the ball moving) and dribble would be 2 good starting points.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Any desperate team would've given him 10-12 million dollars thinking he could be their defensive stopper at the 1 or 2.

Unfortunately, in my eyes, Bradley is only worth about 9-10. He can only blame his agent for not expecting the cap to rise so much.

I thought he did pretty good myself .....considering the history ......IF ....he had never been hurt and was playing at this level for say 2 -3 years .   But when his contract was signed he was not at this level of dependability .

I also recall some push back on this blog he was getting TOO much .

He got what he deserved .   If he stays healthy and continues to,improve ....like his ball handling and passing ....then yeah ......he has got a better payday coming at contract time.

TP....I also can't understand the negative vibes regarding Avery. He's been a very solid, supportive character/citizen in all the time he's been here.
As for his agent, there could be numerous reasons why he's switching that are not related to his last contract, e.g., another agent convinced him of this or that...a friend recommended he switch, their fees are too high, etc.
