Tyronn Lue is in over his head

Cavs smashed San Antonio with complete domination offensively. 

Love has now gone for 20+ three straight times.

That is a big development. If Love can continue that, the Cavs will really be scary because their chemistry and unity will improve greatly.

Lue will not get it done IMO. Time will tell when the hit a bad spot. But I am eating some good tasting crow today. Pass the salt !!!!

Seems to me that Lou is doing some major changes to that team not. Blatt is by far better coach then he is. He's played for great coaches so what? He assisted to great coach so what? It does not mean if you are good assistant that automatically you are a good coach. Now I'm not going to bash him because he's been given a chance, so let him do he's job... but that organization is blindly listening to lbj. They gonna do what he says and that's why he's never gonna play for a top coach. There's always gonna be some rookie Spo or Blatt or Lue, or some future marionette of a coach who's gonna stand there, or sit like in Lou's case, and pretend to coach. Apparently Blatt wanted to do more. He actually wanted to coach that guys, but it wasn't given a chance. Man for that I really hate lebron. He's a great player don't get it twisted, but he's such a sissy who's all about his brand and his business. Never mind, let the Cavs deal with him...

Now, the Cavs are in a tough spot heading towards the deadline. They have rookie coach who is not allowed to coach, they have lbj who is eager at all costs to bring the trophy in his home town, they have disgruntled star who is often injured in Kevin Love, they got really good but overhyped player in Irving (his lack of fighting and passion for the game annoys me very much), they got headcase time bomb in JR, they got weak bench and not playing mo williams, they got crazy owner who is obsessed with winning a championship (pressure!!!) and they got gm who is going to be fired if he doesn't comes up with the master plan in the next two weeks. Overall, I like what I'm seeing in Cleveland and absolutely can not see them dominating the eastern conference for the next 4-5 years...

Since he has taken over as head coach the Cavs defensive rating has dropped from 5th to 14th.
I guess they are in cruise mode and will attempt to flip the switch when the playoffs start.

I expected the Cavs to get better after firing Blatt if only bcs of ending the tension between coach and players.

The stats are almost irrelevant. I don't think it is slightly arguable that they have been a significantly worse team since firing Blatt. It's not just the won loss percentage (and we are getting into pretty decent sample sizes now) it is the amount of bad losses they have had since then (losing to the Nets, Wizards and Memphis missing all their players, losing to Utah without Hayward all in the last month). You also throw in the fact that Blatt was coaching them in the beginning of the season when they did not have Kyrie and Love was rusty coming off of surgery and it becomes even more startling. They are still the favorites to win the east for sure, but putting in a first time coach mid season when you are contending for a championship seems pretty foolish.

However, it's possible to play at a fast pace and still play good defense.  The defensive rating measures per 100 possession stats, and 14th is not good for a contender.  19th in defensive FG% is downright terrible.  The reason the Cavs played so well in the playoffs last year was not only because of Lebron's brilliance, but because Blatt had everybody playing elite defense.  This season, neither Love nor Kyrie has bought in.

They also basically played a 6 man rotation and 5 of the guys were good to great defenders (Smith being the exception).  James, Shumpert, Mozgov, Thompson, and Delly were the main rotation (with Smith), those guys are defenders for the most part.  Jones is the only person that played in all 6 finals games (under 19 a game).

At what point are Love's struggles his own fault?  Maybe he wasn't utilized enough, but the 30% shooting and lack of effort on defense are all on him.
