Simmons and Ingram would be game changers.
Brown, Dunn, Bender, Ellenson, Skal ... they seem like they could be more of the same kind of talent we already have, or they could be exceptional.
Poeltl would be a fine consolation prize, I guess. Seems like a nice center prospect but hard to imagine stardom for a guy with his skillset. Then there are names like Murray, Rabb, Stone, Diallo, Luwawu ... role players, or maybe more.
Really only the top two picks would "thrill" me, but there are a handful of other guys I could talk myself into.
consider this if you want to put a positive spin on the Brooklyn pick --> thanks to that pick we will have the opportunity to add a top prospect without the C's themselves actually having to stink to get that pick. I predicted a top 5 pick since this summer and I still think that's what we'll have after the lottery. I'll be happy with adding any one of the players projected in the top 5. Every one of which projects to be starter-quality (in time) which is better than we have on the roster now.
+1. I was at 4-8th pick and am moving to 3rd-7th pick. Yes, the lottery hates us but, as far as I can tell, that's not the way math works in the real world.
Question about Buddy Hield: For those of you who know basketball better than I do, how is a 22-year old undersized 2 who can shoot really well different from a 24-year old undersized 3 who can shoot really well, aka Doug McDermott? That's a totally serious question, I just have to know what I'm getting if he is to be a top 10 pick.
I like Simmons. I like Ingram. I could probably be talked into taking Ingram over Simmons. I don't get Bender, but I'm not a pro scout. I love the way Brown looks, but another player with great athletic ability who can't shoot is a problem for us (although he may be BPA by the time we draft, which means we should pick him).
I'd be very happy with two of the above.
