I was just looking at box scores and noticed that Drummond was 13-36 from the line in only 24 minutes.  We know he is horrible from the line, but the amount that he attempted is amazing for only 23 minutes of action.  I can't remember someone taking so many in so few minutes.

The Rockets intentionally fouled him to open the third quarter.  They brought KJ McDaniels in and immediately fouled Drummond 5 times to get in the penalty.  I saw a clip of it and it was just KJ putting his hand on Andre each time, Drummond was laughing by the end of it.

Great use of KJ's skills...

This garbage has no place in the game...it's disgraceful. One shot and the ball, multiple intentional fouls of this nature result in a technical foul on the coach.

I hope the League does something about this finally. It's pathetic.

13-36 is pretty pathetic too.  He's about to be a max contract player.  Even getting to 55% makes the strategy worthless.  55% is still bad.. It's not much to ask.

Yes, that is pathetic shooting. No doubt.

But what Houston did is not basketball.

And that's the problem with making him a max contract player. Who wants to give the maximum to a star that you can't play in the last five minutes of a close game?

It's ugly to watch, but changing the rules to protect guys like Drummond and DeAndre Jordan isn't the answer.  It's not that difficult to make half of your free throws, and if they aren't going to put in the work to do that, they and their team should suffer the consequences.

Make all free throws a one-and-one and punish teams for playing bad free throw shooters.

I find it funny so many fans want to die upon the hill of the most boring part of the game and a single part of a game that encompasses many skills.  Free throws shouldn't allow an entire game to be ruined.

Change the rules.  Ziller's piece today is a perfectly reasonable and simple solution.

Also some of your "he's just lazy he doesn't work on free throws and the team is intentionally not caring about free throws" type narratives are pretty funny.  As if these guys are not working on their games and can't figure out free throws exist.

If a football team decides to play a running QB that cant throw a deep ball are you gonna get mad when teams put all 11 defensive players in the box to stop him??

This is a game that revolves around shooting a basketball, if your best player cant do that, then your team has a major flaw.  It's not the leagues or your opponets problem

Houston's front office had them do it and all the coaches and players are pretty upset about it

you can't change the rules to reward a bad free throw shooter---Practice you idiot-!
too many times, players take free throws for granted...maybe teams and players will start taking it more serious.

Obviously missing free throws isn't enough of a penalty for teams to take these guys off the court so I think there needs to be a greater penalty, like personal fouls being assessed to you if your free throw percentage is below a certain amount after 10 trips to the line.
