caught myself going, "about time" he got injured",then had to censure myself for those thoughts
all for the sake of a better draft pick
,i got to slap that celtic fan in me
from the beginning i had hoped for a good record going into 2nd half for dallas, so when the injuries did hit they would not choose to tank-but not a knee for dirk

Another overtime game for them.  Maybe it will catch up to them at some point, but it's beginning to feel like the last Nets pick we got outside the lottery. Lol

This is a tough call similar to the Jarrett Jack injury. Or I think there was a Seinfeld episode where Jerry has a devil and angel of himself on both shoulders telling him what to do.

The best for the Celtics would be if Brook Lopez had a season ending injury. But at what cost to our personal dignity? I mean that if it happened, how many of us would feel the same inner turmoil as Rollie? I even think that some who would say they're never happy to hear of an opponent's injury that helps their team is just saying that as holier than thou.

The human condition, with all its positives and negatives, sometimes becomes a factor on message boards when all we really want is a copacetic atmosphere. Real life is very messy and the NBA and everyone including us are no exception.

If Dallas falls apart the second half, then maybe I will follow their games in regards to draft position. However, it seems to me the Brooklyn picks are the only ones we should bother thinking much about. That Grizzlies pick for Jeff Green is another one but years away.

I think your question is a good one and one that I, along with many others here, have thought a lot about. My ultimate resolution is that we are, for the most part, on solid moral ground. The reason I say that is this:

Nobody here is wishing Dirk or Brook a season-ending injury per se. What they're wishing is that their teams fail, which would likely happen without their star players. Obviously, the most expedient method for removing a player from the court is an injury, but again, we're more about the result (the loss of the player) than we are in the method. To take this idea to an extreme, a best-case scenario for us would be if Dirk and Brook decided that they were madly in love with each other and ran off to become sheep farmers. Great outcome for us, great outcome for D&B. Not so much for their fans, but 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

If the question is, "Given a choice between a season/career-ending injury to one of the above or a  worse draft pick," I'm pretty confident in saying that most of us would choose the latter.

tp for using the word copacetic.  ;D
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I feel like the Mavs have been overachieving all year. Dirk truly has been great, especially at his age. If Dirk is out for some extended time, Dallas will drop a bunch of games, but I don't see Dallas missing out on the playoffs or dropping below that 8th pick, unless they fall into the lottery and jump a bunch of teams.

beginning of season posted celts had to beat brooklyn  4 times and lose to mavs-i was then concerned that they would play poorly and they would tank-i also think they overachieved and
don't see that tank happening now  but would like to see them have a lousy 2nd half and we get a pick in 10/12 range they are picking at 22 as of today
-i would hate to see dirk end his career injured BUT a shooting slump would be okay

Dirk?  Injured?  Does not compute.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale
