Well this could be one of those threads that looks pretty foolish down the road, but it looks like things are starting to go south for the Heat right now. In addition to injuries to Dragic, and the start of lingering injuries for Wade, they now just saw Whiteside crumple in a heap on their homecourt untouched. They have been playing very average basketball prior to these injuries and are in danger of falling under .500 shortly.

They have a lot of aging players locked into contracts. Imagine how bleak things could be without winslow.

Our previous posts were on the 8th so its been 2 weeks (not 3).  During 9 games played during that stretch, the Heat are 2-7.  The Heat are losing now predominantly because their schedule got much tougher not because of injuries.  Bosh played all 9 games, Deng played 8, Wade and Whiteside played 7.  So they had their starters, other the Dragic who only played 3 games, for most of those games.  The Heat are paying the price for having a schedule heavily front loaded with home games. 

For the season, the Heat starters have not missed that many games (Bosh zero, Wade and Whiteside 3 each, Dragic and Deng 7 each).  I'd be surprised if Bosh and Wade remain that healthy.  The Heat have the talent to be the 2nd best team in the East but they just aren't a very good team and they don't have much margin for error.  They're the 2nd slowest paced team, they don't shoot 3s well and only the Nets and Sixers score fewer points per game.

Do your numbers for games played count it as a game when whiteside crumples to the floor in the first quarter or the games wade and deng have left to injuries? Also I am not sure why we are just acting like losing an above average starting pg ( and an average backup ) can really devastate a team? Losing dragic and udrih and being forced to play Tyler Johnson 35 minutes a game is huge (with no other pg on roster). Were you right they had a tough stretch coming up? Sure. I very well could have underestimated that, but it feels really disingenuous to sit here and pretend losing more than half their rotation hasn't impacted their results and outlook. Finally aside from

They have some intriguing pieces, but like all teams they have had some missteps. I could list like 20 things I don't like that the Celtics have done. You mention a few small things the 76ers could have done differently and its like I insulted mother theresa.  Also Miami is way more likely to end up the 2 seed than out of the playoffs."

This seems barely relevant to me saying they are in trouble 2 weeks later when Whiteside may be seriously injured, Dragic has missed two weeks, his backup is injured, Deng is injured and the predictable Wade nagging injuries. I can laugh at myself for plenty of things, but this really seems like a stretch to bring up a 76ers thread. It is also disappointing that this thread has gotten completely derailed from the original point of discussing the Heats complete string of injuries that rendered them a lineup of

Considering they are a team we are competing against for the playoffs, Whiteside has been discussed as a near all-star that is entering free agency there are a lot of interesting things to discuss here. Whether I was higher on them 2 weeks pre-injury or Tazzmaniac had an accurate prediction isn't very high on that list and it is pretty boring (for myself and moreso for anyone besides the 4 people interested in this personal battle).

Keep rondo, I was referring to my conversation with tazzmaniac. That is where my quote from the other thread was from. He derailed a thread about the heat by trying to turn it into a "gotcha thread" and taking some things i said out of context a few weeks ago. I got no issue with you, a mild level of frustration with tazz for derailing the thread and trying to bring in a separate subject. TP for you. Hopefully this thread can get back to talking about the Heat and not this bizarre personal "gotcha" crap.
