Thoughts? The Kings are this close to making the playoffs for the first time in a decade, so they're likely not trading him any time this season.

Only way Kings deal Cousins to C's right now is if they get 2016 and 2017 Nets picks along with players that are under contract such as KO, Rozier and AJ.

Only way C's deal for Cousins right now is if it's for 2017 Nets pick, 2018 Nets pick, Dallas 1st and Lee.

Basically not happening as they are too far apart.

Celtics agree to trade Nets 2016 1st if outside top 2. If pick falls in top 2 Cetics agree to send Nets 2017 pick instead (2017 should be high too). Celtics also trade KO, AJ, Rozier, Dallas 1st and Nets 2018 1st for Cousins. That has to be enough for both teams as C's get top 2 protection yet Kings get players under contract players and two of the three first may be top ten picks.

Because the Kings are playing quite well of late, and have a legit shot at making the playoffs this season - which they desparately want.  They aren't going to trade their best player just because another team's fan base wants him.

I was way off on Cousins situation at the beginning of the year. I thought the team would have imploded by now and he'd be on the block. It's worked out with Karl better than I expected.

Because literally every source with inside info says they have zero interest in moving him. Because he's young and under contract for a couple more years. Because he's a top 10 player in the league. Because the Kings need a face to sell tickets as they move into a new arena. Because the Kings are a .500 team with Boogie healthy this year, and are currently a game out of the playoffs.

Yeah really! I used to post on realgm a while ago and years before we got KG I used to post trade ideas to get him and people would say things like, "It's not happening, and we all have to accept it." I love how so many people here talk as if they have some crystal ball.

the article makes one important point, it would take "another explosion in Sacramento sometime in late January or early February the Kings finally declare the DeMarcus Cousins era a failure and send him packing."

People saying no way they trade DMC right now are correct, but who knows about next month. If they go on a losing streak and DMC starts becoming a problem, all bets are off.

Without protections I wouldn't do first deal. We are assuming Cousins value and Kings gets worse based on article. Would you deal a top 2 pick for Cousins if they implode again as well as given how Ingram and Simmons look? The second was a DA low ball never happening. Third deal in later post I find fair but of course Cousins and Kings still have to be worse for Kings to do.

I'm not positive but I don't think we can put protections on those nets picks. Also, I think I would trade a top 2 pick for DMC but there is certainly no guarantee that we will get one. I don't really know how to look at it objectively, but the odds that one of those nets picks ever becomes top 2 has to be pretty low. The 2016 pick at least probably has more value now before other teams make trades and start to really tank which the nets won't do.
