I just witnessed the WORST officiating in the last two minutes of ANY NBA game!!!

Every true Celtic fan needs to call the NBA League Office.

Here is the number:

(212) 407-8000

This needs to END NOW and it is incumbent on we the fans to TAKE BACK our NBA!!!

Here are our talking points:

1. Amir Johnson called for a foul on John Wall's three point attempt when there was CLEARLY ZERO contact!!!!

2. Jae Crowder was punched in the face and knocked to the ground by Nene while battling over Wall's missed three pointer.  NO CALL!!!

3. Crowder called for a technical after Wall's first FT attempt (miss) when BOTH he and Nene were equally jawing!!!

4. Oubre JUMPS ONTO THE BACK of Amir Johnson immediately after Wall released his last FT.  (Both announcers for the Wizards admitted that it should have been an INTENTIONAL FOUL.)

5. Foul called on Smart vs. Garrett Temple when their arms were locked battling for a rebound.  (This is the ONLY one were a foul could have been called!!!)

Please burn those phones up on Tuesday!!!!

Peace out,

This happens regularly throughout the league with some of the worse free throw shooters. It's a way to get around the prohibition on hacking in the last two minutes.

But I agree with you. Those should be called differently, because every single time the guy jumps on the other guy's back in mid-free throw. I think it will probably be changed this summer.

My hat is off to the Wizards' announcers for admitting that this should have been called intentional!!!  Have you EVER seen a more poorly called last 2 minutes in ANY game jpotter?

There's no such thing as an intentional foul in the NBA.  The Amir foul would have to be either a flagrant or an "away from the play" foul if the play (the FT) had already been completed when it happened.

Call it what you want.  It is the Dwight Howard rule.  If someone fouls intentionally in the last two minutes, it is two FT's and the ball!!!!!!

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I'm not sure how it should be classified, but I do think that you'll see it changed this summer. It really only appeared this season against DJ in LA. It's not a legitimate basketball strategy; rather, it's a strategy to get around a rule.

Agreed, I'd like to see it go, but the refs applied the rule correctly in that case.  I just don't like the rule.

No, the word intentional is nowhere in the rule.  You're thinking of an away-from-the-play foul, which is 1 FT and the ball.  It's defined as "any defensive foul prior to the ball being released during a throw-in"  and "the same penalty would apply if a defender takes a foul against an offensive player who is not part of the action" http://www.nba.com/nba101/misunderstood_0708.html

As jpotter noted teams have figured out that grabbing/jumping on a guy during a FT is a way of dodging this rule, because it's technically a loose-ball foul.  I thought the refs were terrible late too, but your beef on this one is with the rulebook, not the refs.

That whole game was poorly officiated. I can't remember being appalled at that many obvious terrible calls in 1 game. It was so bad I started wondering if they had money on the game, but a couple went our way too so it was likely incompetence.

if its during the free throw shot, its not an intentional foul. Loop hole in the rule.

I have posted here many times the NBA refs are generally horrible at their job.  They are gonna make crap calls often, especially if they have a first name that rhymes with "boney" and a last name that rhymes with "others."

Having said that..there are things these crap refs can control very easily.  Such as:  NOT CALLING TECHS IN THE LAST MINUTE OF A CLOSE GAME WHERE THERE WAS LITERALLY NOTHING BAD GOING ON BETWEEN BOTH TEAMS.

I am AMAZED that alleged brilliant men (and likely women) that write the rules couldn't see this loophole!!!!!!

Incompetence personified!!!

Still, how did the ref see ANY contact from Amir on that three point attempt?

How do you miss a player hitting another player in the face and decking him???

Insanity!!!

Thanks for the info on the loophole guys!!!  I didn't know about that garbage.

then call it a flagarant two free throws for the foul and one for the technical foul.
