I'm still convinced that the Cavs had an under the table handshake agreement that Kevin Love would re-sign for a 2nd year if they traded Wiggins for him.   Giving up a phenom prospect like Wiggins for a potential 1 year rental of Love would have been an unprecedented overpay without some kind of assurance that the Cavs would be able to maintain some leverage.  That just doesn't happen without LeBron's involvement.  This Summer, it sounds like Love didn't even field calls from other teams... and yet he's still probably not a great fit in Cleveland.

Since Kyrie has returned, Love has struggled.  Averaging 12.9 points with 36% shooting in 8 games this month.  Once again he's seeing his offensive role evaporate.   The Cavs just had a game against the Spurs in which Love's lack of defense was on full display.   Also keep in mind that the Cavs are paying huge money to Tristan Thompson... another PF.   They were bringing Thompson off the bench until recently when he started 9 games next to Love.   He just went back to the bench behind Mozgov, but it was likely for matchup reasons.

I use to think we needed to focus our energy on upgrading our SF position, but with Jae Crowder playing the way he is, I think I'm back on board with the Kevin Love pipedream.  I'd love to see us make a play for Love... and make a play for Nerlens Noel.  I'd be very happy with those two playing PF and C next to each other as I think they'd compliment each other very well.

Do you think there's any chance the Cavs would move Love before the deadline or is this more of a draft day thing if they fall short?

Summer is the earliest I see them moving K-Love. I think they'll want to give this Big Three more time together before deciding whether or not to ship out K-Love.

Scary idea = Kevin Love for DeMarcus Cousins

Sacramento gets a replacement star in his prime for Cousins. A PF to play alongside WCS.
Cleveland gets a skilled center who will allow T.Thompson to play PF.

In terms of a win-now trade, that trade for Cousins is going to be a hard trade package to top.

makes a lot of sense.

Rondo and Love would work well together on the Kings I think.  Rondo plays well with shooters.

It doesn't make any sense. If the kings ant to trade DMC we could beat an offer of Love. And we would.

unless this summer's BKN pick is 1, then Boston has no ability at all to top an offer of Kevin Love.  none at all.

Cavs won't make any moves until the summer and I doubt they move him then unless he wants to be traded.

I can't see Love making them any better than Cousins has them right now. Cousins is a legit two-way threat, while Love is only an offensive threat. And if I remember correctly, Sacramento's main problem is defense not offense.

That being said, this would be the exact type of move the Kings ownership would make.

I don't think Cleveland makes that move, though, because why risk it with Cousins and his potential to start drama? It's one thing for us to make that move, because it's totally worth the risk to upgrade the talent by that much. Cleveland, though? I don't see Cousins being all too happy being the third wheel role behind two iso-heavy, ball-dominant players in Kyrie and Lebron. I think that's a disaster just waiting to happen.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

If they don't win it this year and Love is still putting up underwhelming numbers, I can definitely see them trading him.

Cavs are in win now mode so unless they go with poll trade I had up a while back, I don't see them moving Love to C's. It was Crowder, AJ and some picks (non Brooklyn) for Love. Crowder plays SF and LeBron plays PF. AJ helps there D. Maybe a possible is a three way but it's hard to invision the other team.

He is averaging 16/11 and shooting pretty much his career averages (slightly lower from 2, but a smidge better from 3).  I wouldn't exactly call that underwhelming numbers.  In fact it is pretty much the drop expected from going from a #1 option to a #2/3 option

Idea - Cavs sign and trade Dwight Howard for K-Love in the summer.

Rockets get a new star to pair up with James Harden. Advanced metrics rate Kevin Love's offense very highly. Fits the Rockets game plan of 3s, offensive rebounds and high percentage shots. Improves their (flawed) big man passing. Allows Capela to take over at starting center who Houston are apparently very high on.

Cleveland gets a star player who would be comfortable as a 3rd wheel behind LeBron and Kyrie. Someone who can have a big impact on a game without needing the ball in his hands to do so.

IF ......IMO .....they don't win the title .

I think it would be in their  best interest to  to dump JR Smith and Love and maybe Mozgov for a better big .

Love just doesn't fit ,  he takes a few threes .....stands outside and watches the game   While Bebron and Irving drive to,the bucket.

He is an EXPENSivE decoy is all

They really could get the same thing from Ryan Anderson or like ....a lot cheaper and use the money to,upgrade center or guard.

Love has more of offensive skills as a good PF, than standing around waiting for LeBron to pass him a three point shot. His game is wasted on LeBron as a third option decoy .

I HATE watching the LeBron ISO spread the floor game ....very boring basketball.

If they don't get rings , Love should find his OWN team .

So yeah ...if LOve doesn't get his ring on the Cavs this year ....I think he might be obtainable .

At this point I'd rather keep Crowder & AJ.  Love is looking an awful lot like a young version of DavidLee to me (in that he can only defend one position, and does so poorly)

KO would fit the need CHEAPER than Love s role on the Cavs .

Problem is with LeBron is nobody but Irving gets to develop a game or get their shot going.

LeBron is a poor team player ......I like how Curry fits into a TEAM first concept.
