Wish we had gotten him somehow. He looks like a franchise player. We need one of those.

Maybe we would had taken him instead of Smart if he stayed in the draft that year.

I doubt it.  He was projected as late lottery/mid first round

Taking him over Young would have been possible
I'm bitter.

I agree. I'd rather the Celtics had Porzingis. I was disappointed when he pulled out of the draft a year earlier.

But NY is an important market and they have been mostly very bad for a long time. I actually think Phil Jackson is doing a good job there and the days of total mismanagement/dysfunction may be over.

Certainly I'm glad NY got Porzingis instead of the Lakers.

Agree with original post. Despite not being great for the Cs moving forward, it does look good for the league on several fronts. There's still plenty of issues in the league despite the soon-to-explode cap and TV deal money, such as game attendance in several cities. While a franchise player landing in one of the largest NBA markets doesn't help teams with poor attendance more than 1-2 nights per year, it should pressure ESPN to continue more league-wide coverage over LeBron-centric coverage. To ESPN's credit, that has proved to be the case this year.
Long-form is far from dead, but please refrain from paragraph-laden posts! Who wants to read that?!

He was skyrocketing up draft boards into the early teens before he dropped out. Maybe Ainge should have given him a promise, a bag full of cash, and hid him in a cave until draft night.

He could have hidden him at DeAndre Jordan's house.
