Kevin O'Connor admitted to lying about his true feelings on the trade Rondo rumors too:

There will (likely) be time for more in-depth speculation at a later date, but I do want to touch on a topic I discussed in my March piece, "Playing Devil's Advocate: Reasons to trade Rajon Rondo." (As an aside, I have a confession to make: I wasn't playing devil's advocate, I really thought they should've traded Rondo. Sorry.)

Celticsblog is great, but it seems like the writers do too much writing what they think we want to hear. If you truly think that Smart is an overhyped role player, tell me! Don't say one thing to one group at one time and something different once popular opinion changes or you have a different audience.

I'm confused what the first post is in reference to. What did Jeff lie about?

Keep in mind that our writers sometimes give their own opinion, and other times they are posting something to drive discussion. Those two things often coincide, but not always.  Plus, I think everyone is allowed to pull out the Rick Pitino "I meant it at the time" defense.

I wouldn't say he lied, but his Hardwood Houdini article seems to take a much more negative angle on Smart than anything I've seen from him on CB.

The problem with honesty around here is that if you openly criticize whoever happens to be wearing a Celtic jersey this year, some defensive fans will call you a troll or claim you are a 76er fan.

I was all for trading rondo.  Smart has been bad, but I'm holding out hope he improves.  I'm obviously open to trading him if we get a better player or prospect.

Yeah I think it is most assuredly a different Jeff Clark. It's not like it's an uncommon name.

There is no reason for him to write a post anyplace other than Celticsblog.

There is an article on Hardwood Houdini penned by a "Jeff Clark" entitled "Marcus Smart: The Lie"
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

THere's another thread about this article here:  http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=82152.msg2005920#msg2005920

There's a link to the article in there.   Basically it just says that the idea that Smart is going to develop into a franchise cornerstone is a big lie being told by the franchise and local media to placate fans and keep his trade value healthy in spite of him being really bad... points out how terrible has has been and suggests that he might not even be in the league in a few years.   I think they are exaggerating a bit... Worst case, Smart should continue to have some value in this league as a defensive role player off the bench... but nothing in the article is really wrong.  Smart's been really disappointing.

jeff clark is a arrogant hack that minimizes the extent of smarts injuries-a high ankle sprain that didn't clear up till the summer  caused him to lose first step, explosiveness and vertical, then ripped his fingers out of socket and author claims a tape job and then the dislocation of a knee-a slight wrist sprain is irritable enough to throw off a shot-so our rookie has been hobbled for a majority of his rookie/ sophomore seasons-i suffered two bad boy sprains and it thrw my shot of coming back -you adjust and then again it throws off your shot when you have recovered-you saw how isaiah was effected by that bruising  couldn't even shoot foul shots
-this jeff clark didn't play ball and is a coward to boot-last year it was marcus doesn't take it hard to hoop, well he did looking for score and a foul-
young player mistake-all last season marcus made things happen in 4th quarter-why not now-- mistake maybe only in hinsight-

I am still looking for someone to articulate why the fact that someone can't stay healthy is a mitigating circumstance for poor performance.
