  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Well idk what it was that turned a lot of posters around to getting rid of the hack"depth" players we have.
1)They make it impossible to develop
2)They pad our wins in the regular season, even if its just several, that can mean 7 draft position swing.

For this to happen we would need to trade AB as well because he has a great contract and is probably playing the best ball of his life.....along with IT and Crowder. BTW we dont have to trade for picks, get a good young prospect or maybe 2.

If we do well in the lottery and get a young guy with the trade ...CBS might actually get excited, why does everyone think he will bolt or that we have to baby him

Some really good points. TP.
Right now, those depth players are steadily improving and we really are capable of being #2 or #3 in the East if we can put together a nice 20 game stretch.
Jae's improving, Bradley's improving, Kelly is improving. Smart is playing great basketball, just not shooting well.

It's a decision Danny is going to have to make at some point with all these draft picks.
Dump almost everyone over age 25 (including IT, Amir and ET), and keep our core of:

Smart
Bradley
Jae
Kelly
Sully (if his contract is reasonable)
Hunter
Rozier
Young
+ 2016 draft picks
and replace Amir with Mickey or a draft pick.

IT and Amir are basically the two pieces that are keeping us from being a top 10 lottery pick this season. Bradley's playing great but I don't think him and Crowder (as well as they are playing) are good enough to keep us in the top 8 in the East.

To create the above though, he's gotta get a great pick/return for IT, which is hard to see happening.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Here's the play I think he's referencing:

https://twitter.com/ByJayKing/status/686379373088247809?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

Apparently most of us missed that play. I know I did. Smart apologized in the locker room for it. Stevens didn't call for a foul, which is why they were all mad. It looks like it was a stupid play by Smart, but none of them (especially IT and Crowder) can say anything about bad plays or turnovers at the end of games.

EDIT: Watching that again, I get the OP's frustration with Thomas. That's immature and not characteristic behavior of a leader. How many times has he lost games for us by turnovers or stupid shots when the time is running down. This is a really bad loss for the team.
I didn't miss the play.

His teammates are just tired of his antics.

And I was called a hater last week when I said Marcus has bad blowups when frustrated. He obviously hacked the guy cause he got owned on the other end.

Thomas looked like a baby

and Crowder acts like he's never done anything stupid. He always does stupid things.

The same goes for his ridiculous whining after he misses and layup and expects to get bailed out by the refs.

Especially when he, like Smart, beats the crap out of people the whole game.  Btw, am I the only one who thinks that Crowder looks like Serena Williams with a beard, lol?  I'm not trying to be insulting, I just happened to notice a facial resemblance during a postgame interview a little while ago.

Lol. Thank you -- we could use more of your humor around here in the near future. Please keep us entertained while the walls cave in around us. :)

Lol, I do what I can ;D. We may need some more lifeboats for the S.S. Sinking Ship, though.

Tired of these "leaders" These guys need to be trade to get the ball rolling, you can't win championships with these role players starting

They p---ed me off when they tore Marcus Smart down in front of thousands at the game and thousands watching.

Totally Pathetic , I wanted to slap Thomas and Crowder upside the head.

That's one thing you never saw with the recent big 3 champions. Paul Ray and Garnett never did that type of stuff, never embarrassed any of the teammates like that....They were hall of fame players at that point and

now you got two role playing scrubs like Crowder and Thomas who are getting starter minutes who in reality will never be nothing more than role players are on decent good team.

They can have their fun right now acting like they are something.

TRADE these guys for more picks or offer them in a package , Let Smart play 40 minutes a game and do what he has to do to develop

dont let these bootleg starters tear down the young players that were picked as potential future players.

Two major differences:

1) That's KG, an all-time great, getting on to a teammate in the huddle on the sidelines. He was an unquestioned leader on the team who would do anything for the win. Here we're talking about IT, a guy who makes just as many blunders in the game. Hell, it was just last game that he publicly apologized to his team for letting the refs get into his head and forcing him to play like crap. It's also a guy who routinely gets beat and taken advantage of defensively. Neither of those guys have any right to act like that when they've made just as dumb plays in the very recent past.

2) KG did that as a learning lesson on the sidelines during/around a huddle. It wasn't out on the middle of the floor just because he was mad at Baby.

To me, those are two different situations.

I mean, it's not that big of a deal to begin with, but I don't think they should be acting like that out there, especially towards a younger player.

I have an issue with it, because who is anybody on our team to criticize another? It's one thing if KG or Pierce or Lebron go out there and scold a guy for a dumb play. It's another for IT, who is coming off a three game stretch where he has been absolutely terrible, and Crowder, whose shot selection might be even worse than Smart's, to act like that, given that they do just as much dumb stuff as that.

It's one thing at the end of a game to have a careless drive to the hoop like IT4 does so often or maybe an off balance shot by Jae early in the shot clock.  Plays like that we get frustrated about but are much different than this.  Those are plays which ultimately are still trying to help the team win.  This wasn't a play where Marcus was trying to help the team.  He completely lost his cool because he thought he got fouled on the other end so he hacked Chalmers.

That's a little presumptuous isn't it? It looked to me like he didn't hear Brad say no foul and went to foul Chalmers to stop the clock. It's still a mistake, but that's presumptuous to think he was doing that purely out of frustration.

I think he got so mad he lost track of what the situation was and didn't realize that there was enough time to defend and get a stop and still have time for a good shot.

Inexcusable really really disaapointing

I don't see it being all that bad. Yes, IT looks like a 5 year old. Crowder looks like he wants to join in on IT's meltdown. But it was a boneheaded thing to do. I doubt they'd lose their marbles like that if it had been the first stupid thing he's done in a meaningful moment.

Related to the big 3, OP -- you don't think they were incredibly hard on everyone? You must've missed KG making Big Baby cry on the bench. They were atrocious... but they held everyone to a higher standard. That's what it takes to win. [dang] near perfection.

I can understand how you may want to see guys other than IT and Crowder in positions of leadership. Easily argued they're little more than "role players," too... for as murky and ill-defined as that descriptor is around here. But in general I don't mind guys getting chewed out by teammates for boneheaded plays in meaningful moments.

Maybe this is just my patience running thin for everyone on the roster, though. Haven't watched a single game since the LAL loss and am probably happier for it. Time for change.

I didn't see the game, but the problem with IT and Crowder is that they're just talkers, imo, and I hate those kind of players.  I don't care how much Ainge ripped Jae 'Bae', which also happens to be the Danish word for poop, btw ;D, off for, or how 'good' Thomas' contract is (I'd rather have the Cavs' pick for this year that we traded in the deal for Isaiah than IT, anyway) - trade them both and gut the roster of everyone but the rookies, if only because we don't know how good or bad they are yet, lol, but don't worry, man, Danny's annual reshuffling of the deck is just around the corner, so, umm, woo? :-\
