claiming he has got it but not the talent part
went on tominimize his injuries and that was where i got mad
last years high sprain bothered him  geting to hoop and vertical, this finally went in off season
then he started playing well summer league only to rip his fingers out of socket, now he has been out with a terrible knee injury and hardwood minimizes the effects these injuries on a 2nd season player
he talks how other players have taped there fingers and we have been sold a bill of goods on marcus due to his draft position
anybody enjoy that OKC game-i suffered severe injuries to ankles and my knee,i know how much i wanted to come back with ankles and how long it effected my shooting and first step and finally never being able to play again from knee issues that i never recovered from-this guy made me really really mad-i dare this guy to call marcus no talent to his face

Just read it.  A little hard to believe Jeff wrote that.  Is there another Jeff Clark out there?

I completely understand being disappointed by Marcus, but focusing only on what his shooting numbers have been so far this year blatantly disregards some very important context.

Could be worthwhile to, you know, look at his full body of work so far, first of all, and second of all, compare him to similarly situated players.  First and second year players with a similar role on their team and a somewhat comparable skillset.

Yes, Smart has been sold to us as the next big thing for the Celts.  I agree with the sentiment of the article which is that Smart is probably not that.  I'm pretty confident, still, that he'll eventually be a very valuable role player, if not for the Celts then for somebody else.

Marcus is looking good tonight coming off the bench playing aggressive.  I really don't care what these guys do as long as its within the team and they continue to improve and play a physical style..   People put too much weight on draft status where it hurts the team.  Smart is a very talented guy who is another guy built like a linebacker and plays the game the right way.  His shot will come I feel.

Name me one guy at the top that draft that is performing offensively with any efficiency anyways. I wrote this in the draft section but I blame the college game more than anything for this.  MOst of these guys it takes a while for their offense to catch up.  The college game is such a helter skelter chuck game right now.

Aaron Gordon, Smart, Jabari, Wiggins, Embiid, Randle all down the line are all not performing to their offensive abilities.

80% sure that's another Jeff Clark.

We have a ton of guards where it's more about efficiency with smart. Put Smart on another team where he was stat stuffing and he'd put up numbers. We don't want that though. We just want him to be efficient. His defense is awesome.  Tonight he's doing exactly what we want from him.

It's fair.  Marcus is deserving of criticism at this point.  I still have hope he will make improvements but just yesterday I was a little annoyed by ESPN dumping on "disappointing" prospects like Wiggins while ignoring how disappointing smart has been.  He's been bad.  We have a losing record this season with him on the court.  Shades of rondo without the passing ability.

I'd debate if it's fair.  Smart is basically in his second year and is coming in as a defensive player ala tony allen where his offensive game if you watched college was a work in progress.  Questioning his talent and questioning whether he is a lie at this point is a bit absurd.  I don't like sites like that that just write things for clicks and to create controversy. It's not really looking at it objectively.

Fair would be what I'm saying to be fair.

If you don't see any improvement in Smart running the offense and passing then you just aren't watching.

Smart is improving if you really watch him.    He just looks more comfortable out there.  It hasn't translated so much as far as his stats but he's been hurt.

It can be questioned somewhat with the amount of guards we have what Smart's role on this team is going to be, but I don't think his talent can be questioned.  He is a stalwart defender and his offense is coming.

Is he the guy on this team?  Maybe.  Probably. He is going to set the tone defensively and make game winning plays that much is known. His offense is coming.

He is about as much a sure thing as we have as far as a tone setter.

Smart a big lie? keep writing that stuff I guess lol.

If Rozier is Jamie Collins, Smart is Dont'a Hightower.
