Mikhail Prokhorov says he wants a Championship next year...... looks like he is ready to spend money!!!

Yeah, bad news for us. He's so delusional about this current team that he's going to forfeit their future just to be mediocre at best in the short term.

Is any of this a surprise?  I never really believed the Nets were going to dump Lopez and Young for picks, and I've always figured the Nets would look to spend as much $$ as possible this summer on second and third tier free agents.

Just watch, next year the Nets will win 35 games, led by a starting lineup of Brandon Jennings, Courtney Lee, Demar Derozan, Thad Young, and Brook Lopez.

That's why the 2016 pick is so important.

One day at a time. Maybe the Nets get Derozan and López goes down next year, putting them back to a two player team again.

That is a good team. That team could go for 50 wins.

We'll know until the offseason to see if the Nets will even get half of those players.

Woah there.  You must feel really good about Brandon Jennings' recovery.

Plus, they'll still have a crappy bench no matter what.

Joe Johnson is still good as long as you don't expect great defense from him ....

...or good offense. He's shooting 37% from the field and has a PER of 8.8. He's a -17 in Off-Def Rating. Basically the reason the Nets went from being a likely top 10 pick to a lock and now have a good shot at a top 5 pick despite the healthy season Lopez has had so far.

Iso-Joe won't take a buyout unless it's for substantially all his money and he'll be very difficult to trade given the size of his expiring if the Nets had anyone that could trade him.

Do you think once they get a GM in place, we could change their mind with that offer floating around of Lee, Zeller, right to swap picks in 2017 for Lopez.

Perhaps they would see that one year of tanking could Net (parden the pun) a franchise cornerstone.

And why would anyone want to go to that clusterF unless they were born in Brooklyn? Not like there won't be plenty of other teams' cap money chasing what little talent there is in this summer's free agent class. Same problem as in Philly Agents (and opposing GMs) loved Billy King, but he's gone.

Don't worry, there is no future left for them to forfeit, they are out of options on that front.

I think that statement is misquoted and out of context. All I read of him saying at the press conference is that the Nets deserve a championship and he will do his best to make it happen. He never said he expects it to happen next year, and its all just basic salesmanship anyways. What is he supposed to say, we screwed up and we expect to suck for the foreseeable future? That doesn't keep your fans invested or sell any tickets while you are making major front office overhauls.

Yes, because no one has cap space next year and Brooklyn is such an attractive destination considering their promising future. Just like the Lakers who cleaned up during free agency this summer.

Brooklyn is still in New York and they will have a lot of money to spend.

Let's not pretend like they're gonna simply strike out on free agency if they go out there willing to give guys 150% of their market value.

So do other teams and a lot of them are in better position to win than Brooklyn.

LA is more of a destination, their franchise wasn't in disarray, and they didn't have to compete against other teams like the Nets will this summer. They'll get second tier free agents (DeRozan isn't happening) and overpay to boot.
