The Golden State Warriors are a freakin' machine. I have never seen a team play with such awareness of where everyone is. you can take any team you want in the east and barring major injuries to key players, nobody will beat these guys in a seven game set.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Not sure if you've watched the Spurs lately but that's looking like a Western Conference finals series that could go 7 games.
Warriors having home court advantage will be enormous.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I don't see it either.  When we played them they sure didn't look unbeatable.  I know fans want to hype up these teams like they are watching all time greats but a lot of athletes today are very overrated.  Tommy always says if you want to stop so and so just do this and you'll take away half their game and I think he's right.  GS is a very good team and a high octane offense but none of these teams nowadays compare to teams in the 80's which were truly unstoppable at times with their skill and ability to adjust.  Why a veteran savvy team liek the spurs can give teams headaches.  I think GS is a high octane team.  They aren't the most savvy team.  There have been teams in the past that have been both and much more unstoppable than anything GS puts out there.

I think GS's has a method to how they play.  They don't have the best coaching staff in the world.  I think you put them against a similarly talented team with a better coaching staff they can be beat.  Steph Curry and Draymond are really good though. Plus they just have a lot of pieces they are hard to stop. They play at a high gear at all times as well in true GS fashion.

Stevens actually had a good piece on celtics now on how to stop the warriors.  The celtics are not as talented as them but he basically said you really have to stay with them defensively and it's easier said than done.  But if you can slow their offense down they aren't as unbeatable.  They don't have guys like Bird or Mchale or parish who would just shoot over teams in a variety of ways.  They are undersized. They aren't like the lakers either that could beat you with their fast break and with size.  They are pretty much a speed and shooting team where you have to stay with them.  They aren't the best defensive team in teh halfcourt. They are quick but again they are undersized.  The 80's celtics would have killed them with their halfcourt game imo.

The celtics are actually building a much more well rounded team that can beat teams with speed on the perimeter and size down low.

We have guys like Smart, Bradley, Crowder, Isaiah, Rozier that can stay with their guys.  We really have to stay with them on back cuts because our front court isn't as quick of foot.

The nba is different now where players have a lot more space to operate and speed and a team like the warriors are really capitalizing on that.  They wouldn't have the same success with different rules.

We get a shotblocker and a guy like Cousins to go with our guards and defense on the perimeter  we would destroy them imo.  Unfortunately Cousins wants to play around hte perimeter like an idiot and disrupt chemistry.  What we need is a low post guy and shot blocker to go on our team that isn't going to disrupt chemistry and GS is no more.

Yeah I suspected this would be how to beat them
Problem with this is
There aren't many good post players that can to take advantage of their lack of size and are on a good team
Demarcus cousins and Anthony Davis come to mind but both are great players on bad teams
If u had, shaq, hakeem, or Duncan in their prime, they would be able to take advantage of this size mismatch

The GS Warriors are what the Suns of the 00's would have been if they played any defense. Similar play style and team game. The Suns would drop 115 on a team any given night but D'Antoni did not stress the other side of the game so good teams could slow them down in the playoffs and during the regular season and they became beatable because. The Warriors are an excellent defensive team.

The Warriors have an incredible clientel which fits perfectly in the system they are running. Green, Curry, and Klay fit very well together on both ends of the floor for what they run. If Green were on any other team in the NBA I don't think he would be playing nearly as well. However, for the Warriors his skill set is maximized by the fit and the fit is maximizing the skill set.

I still think the Spurs are good enough to give them a seven game run with their system play, ball movement, and high IQ play, but it'll be tough to take the Warriors out.
