Not really a fair comparison with Parsons injured. But Crowder has basically been doing here what the Mav's had hoped Parsons was doing in Dallas. Parsons was given a 3 year 46 million dollar deal. I think somewhat overpaid but I don't want to knock Parsons too much. Thing is I think Parsons is a different player than Crowder. He's a more polished offensive player when healthy. He's a good passer, efficient scorer and 3 point shooter and has great length which allows him to get rebounds. I think he's 6'10". He's been hurt and a disapointment so far though and that's where the questions start with him is his toughness. I think he's a tough player and plays with toughness but health might be an issue for him.
Crowder on the other hand is all about toughness. He's a well rounded scorer and a very tough defender. He's also locked up longterm for 5 years 35 mil. I don't think there is that huge of a difference between the two. This was a huge steal by Ainge prying Crowder away from them.
I think Parsons still has the ability to be a guy who is sort of in between a guy like Crowder or Gordon Hayward. I don't think he has that kind of offensive upside though. I could be wrong. For Dallas that might be a good fit.
Boston is building with Crowder as a centerpiece though where eventually we'll put pieces around him. If we were going to build with toughness Crowder was our guy. Where Dallas is left waiting and hoping as aging stars like Dirk decline.

I love the fact that we ripped off Mark Cuban.

Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Parsons fits more in the Gallo / Hayward mold, but I see what you mean. If picking between the two, I am glad we have Crowder.
But I am thinking we need to start a Crowder vs Artest comparison thread soon...but maybe not quite yet.
