Why are we all operating under the assumption that Simmons comes out this year?

After reading some of the ESPN articles that have been published today im not 100 percent sold that he is going to. It seems he has a strong tie to LSU and mentioned that he went there because of "family." His godfather is the head coach and I dont think it is all that crazy to say he could stay there for another year or two, especially if he wants to work on his jumper.

What do you guys think?

He's most likely coming out. I wouldn't worry about that.

I'm more concerned that it's looking like the Nets will end up with the 6th worst record.

When you are guaranteed to be the #1 pick, it would be foolish to stay in school and possibly get injured or exposed as not quite as good as everybody thought you were. Potential is why a lot of younger players get drafted early; if we find out too much about him, perhaps other players next year will have more allure.

Yes, money. He can earn an extra year of 7-figure salary at the front end of his career.
