I'm all excited after seeing that! PLAY JORDAN MICKEY!! Are we so invested into this "deep" playoff run that we can't develop RJ Hunter and Jordan Mickey? RJ has proven he can shoot and defend well. And we need rim protection in Mickey. We really need to unload Lee. We need to see the value of our assets, esp players who can have an immediate impact on our team.

 TP Suite,

Its not so much how he would help out now.

It's next year and seeing if we have a long term keeper here.

Imaging have Portis and Mickey right now. Sheesh.

I like Mickey, looking forward to him. I'm in no particular hurry, but I think he'll be a good player for us.

At this point it's in our best interest not to play him.  The team isn't going to win a title this year, so even if Mickey is everything some people think he is, it can wait until next year.

Whereas with Lee, Sullinger, and Zeller, there's a shot (though perhaps a small one with some of them) that if he gets some PT, he could be worth something in a trade in a month.

Have to agree with this. In Maine, Mickey will get a lot more reps and be free to take as many 3's as he wants as to goal is development not winning games. I think a full year of this would be instrumental in his chances on winning a rotation spot off the bench next season.

I would like to see Zeller play more.
Lopez scored 30 points yesterday because we are so small.

Its a catch 22 with Zellar. He might score 20 but his defense gives up 22. He has no defensive presence. A great backup yes, thats all...

Your right but then again its another catch 22. As constituted your a .500 Club which gets you a what, #8 or 7 seed? vs Lebron or Rose and even Wade in Miami you have zero chance winning a Series, zero.

Why wouldn't you see what you got in the rookies? Waiting a year prolongs the purgatory your stuck in.

Teams are often quick to move on past 2nd round picks if they aren't showing they will [clearly] be a capable player in the NBA. Mickey getting as much reps/preparation as possible should only help his cause once he gets his chance.

We have a great system in the NBDL that is very connected to the Cs organization so I assume he is getting the coaching that is needed. But, yes, I agree that it would be great to see him get a chance soon with nothing close to a star-level player in our front court.

Zeller is a good low post defender.

Respectable. But he can get bullied

I disagree. He was a turnstile on D vs Cleveland last season. He is a defensive liability

We cannot do anything against physical bigs.

Sully is the only one strong and tough enough to battle physical players on the boards. Unfortunately sully has his own issues. Mickey would be nice but would he be strong enough to battle with big time players?

perhaps because if you do give the rookies lots of minutes and let them learn in real nba games, many more of those games might be loses and the team would not be a .500 club. maybe.

i think we will see lots of mickey, a mickey who has developed his game, next year. i am looking forward to it.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
