Derozan would be like a higher usage, more talented version of Evan Turner. He's a skilled scorer but he doesn't fit this offense and his lack of outside shooting would be annoying.
Yeah agree with this, and also not sure how he fits a team need with Thomas, Bradley, Smart, Crowder etc all positioning for starting roles. He would really be a replacement for Bradley and that's just not something we need on a max contract.
I understand the logic and what you're saying, but Derozan is a better player than anyone on our team.
IT, Bradley and Smart can all come off the bench.
Derozan is a top 20 NBA player and he's improving.
If we are prepared to throw $15 million x 4 years at Tobias Harris and Khris Middleton, then we should be prepared to throw $20 million at Derozan who is a better player than both.
Again, I'm not saying we must do everything we can to get him, but we don't get many opportunities at signing top 20 players entering their prime...Ainge wants a go to scorer and that's what Derozan is.
One could argue that with our role players like Bradley and Crowder on cheap contracts, we can afford to spend an extra $4 or $5 million on a guy like Derozan.
Just trying to make sure that all pros/cons are laid on the table when considering free agents.
