Jared Sullinger.

What a tease this kid is... always giving us 1 month (and 1 week) of good play and hits a wall in month 3 of the season. I'm surprised more people on this board hasn't brought this up, but I feel like Sully has gotten a pass this year based on the team winning.

2013-14 Season (out early from injury):
  • November 13.3 pts, 7.4 boards
  • December 13.8 pts, 6.5 boards
  • January 11.5 pts, 9.2 boards

2014-15 Season:
  • October 13.0 pts, 4 boards
  • November 16.2 pts, 8.8 boards
  • December 11.2 pts, 7.5 boards

2015-16 Season:
  • October 9.0 pts, 5 boards
  • November 11.1 pts, 9.8 boards
  • December 7.8 pts, 8.8 boards

This is the third year in a row so I have to bring up my best reasoning as to why he slows down. Conditioning.

And how is he in the other months?

pretty good actually. he definitely pulls himself back to his averages. I'm just bringing up how he hits the same wall every year.

The time to sell high on him passed.  I don't think he's in our long term plans though.  Can't see us paying him.  Will be interesting to see what we settle for in a trade.

these figures mean nothing without some sort of minute/rotation analysis to corroborate that nothing else is impacting his performance.

oh, and as for wondering why others here aren't criticizing him, you evidently haven't looked very far for the numerous thread bashing his conditioning.

when the other bigs start outperforming him, then you can whine.  right now, he's the best big man we have whether you like it or not.  kid plays hard every night, is our best rebounder, his D is better and he's the best finisher around the basket.

there's a lot of other bigger problems on this team to be discussed before p---ing and moaning about Sully's conditioning

It's not the same wall though. All you're doing is finding the month where he has his worst stats each year. You'd also have to consider other issues such as injuries, even when he plays through them.

Looks like normal fluctuation for a young, non star player.

Considering the fluctuations are only a few ppg, you could probably find the same thing if you check older (or even star) players.

Unfortunately we need Sully. KO, Lee, Zeller and even somewhat Amir get pushed off their defensive positioning too easily. Last night was a good example with Randle abusing those guys. Problem now is Sully got fat again. I wouldn't be surprised if he's 300 lbs again. So it's either put Crowder at the four to give us the muscle down low or play Sully and deal with his lack of movement. Either way we need one of those guys otherwise we are way too soft at the four and five.

Gorman mentioned on the broadcast last night that he's been dealing with a wrist issue that is presumably affecting his shooting. From what I can tell he's still rebounding very effectively and playing decent defense.

His defensive effort has started to slow down from my eye test, which is the biggest worry.  Also he put on like 30 lbs in season last year so I am not going to be surprised if he gets worse as the season goes on.

He was very impressive to start the year but I am back to being luke warm on him.  He has moments but I question the same things as always with him.

that makes some sense, as he is struggling at foul line-
a sprained wrist can be very irritating, distracting and lingering

I think the real focus should be David Lee, he is slowing the entire team down.

Did Sullinger sprain his wrist?  I wasn't aware of this.  Can anyone confirm/elaborate on this?

Please don't include October. Teams usually play only 1 or 2 games in October. Not a valid data point if you are looking for trends.
