There is no way Ainge is keeping all our picks.  We could possibly have 6 picks this coming draft.  No way Ainge is replacing half our roster with rookies.  Trades will have to be made.   I don't like being in this position really where we have to deal but we are really going to forced to move someone and picks at the deadline or on draft night.  Probably the first option as I don't think  Ainge is going to want to draft and just bail on picks or be in that position.

He can sell and consolidate them, it's not necessary to trade away players to make it happen.

If we are running out of options, i think we should consider trading current picks to future pics.
Nets for example might be interested in our 2nd round picks.

None of the second rounders will be guaranteed contracts, and late seconds are commonly sold for cash, so I wouldn't worry too much
I'm bitter.

NExt year is just as ridiculous then we go to 2017 which is pretty normal minus that we can swap with Brooklyn and 2018 we have both ours and Brooklyns picks.  But the next two drafts Ainge has a ton of picks and how he consolidates them is going to be pretty much it.

Right now we have more picks than roster spots on an empty roster plus the players we currently have in the next two drafts.

I'd like to see Ainge do a mixture of trading the picks and selecting foreign players who wouldn't come over for a couple years. The 2017 draft is supposed to be stacked so trading into next year isn't a bad idea.

I expect some of the 2nds and maybe a first to be included in a deal at the deadline.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

So when can we get the "five 2nd-round picks for Anthony Davis" rumors going?

I think Bojan Bogdanovic for two 2nd round picks would be a fair deal. He'd fit Brad's system well enough as a scorer and Brooklyn desperately needs picks of any kind.

oh, i thought we had to choose between death and taxes. my mistake ;D.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

They tried desperately to consolidate picks in a deal for a higher pick to draft Winslow, and we all know how that worked out. It was a massive overpay but it didn't matter because you can't force other teams to deal with you if they don't want to. We ended up getting some promising players with those picks, but we only have 15 roster spots and you can't have that many rookies coming in every year unless you are trying to tank.

I think at some point, probably next year, the Celtics may need to have a "step back" year where they play some of the younger guys for better or for worse.

I doubt that that will happen. This train is rolling.

The Celtics are in the rare situation of having a lot of above-average  players, while also having extraordinary resources for adding great players, while also having enormous sums of cash to dispense going forward.

Actually, what I would say is that they are NOW playing their young players.

You've brought up an interesting point, and you're right, he can't keep all the picks, and I'm sure teams in the league also have figured out the same thing. This may result in some strange moves.

This would make me think that Philly second round pick would have some pretty good value. It's basically a late first and your not locked into a guaranteed contract.

None of the second rounders will be guaranteed contracts, and late seconds are commonly sold for cash, so I wouldn't worry too much

This is the best way to effectively extend the life and maybe even increase the value of the second round picks, can negotiate in a higher pick ( a whichever is worse clause) or less protection etc
