Not by much though. Maybe we should look to trade?

why? to save "not much" money? if you have any other reasons it would be helpful to the survival and discussions of this thread to present them.

what benefits would the celtics get from such a trade? how would bennett help the team more than turner does now?
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Evan Turner is certainly a frustrating player because he tries to over extend his game, but when he's playing within his lane, he's a pretty solid contributor.

ET's $2+ million cheaper than Bennett and his numbers for a backup are OK and sometimes he makes a decent contribution especially on defense. Bennett is still a major bust in TOR.

I'd rather make room for someone else than ET, but if the deal's reasonable like the current one, then i can live with it. His performance with the Cs is a major improvement from his performance on other teams, but I still wish CBS had a quicker hook when evil ET shows up. OTOH ET has shown himself able to play both poorly and well in the same game.

Evan Turner has to stay.  Last year he was the MVP and he's the MVP this year except when IT is having a good game.  He's also the closest thing we have to a crunch time player.  He's a helluva ballplayer.  The only complaints - his 3 point shot and his careless turnovers.  I like him a LOT.

Evan Turner is a keeper for us.  If he had a 3 point shot he would be starting on a lot of teams in the NBA.

My 4,000 post!!  Happy New Year, All!!

I'd rather have him on a small contract than a late first. I'd rather trade the pick and keep him.

No way! I like Evan, he's a very good player, means a lot more to the team then what an average persons eye can see. We got him for cheap so why to get rid of him? If he could only cut down his nonchalant passes that end up in turnovers and correct his three point shooting percentage, that would be major for us. Plus he's a very positive, funny and kinda unique person. For now, def a keeper.

I like Turner a lot, but his role needs to be upgraded unfortunately. We are in need of another wing who can both handle and shoot. Turner can just handle.

Think of it this way: Evan Turner had 198 turnovers last year.  We're paying him less because he passed the ball to the other team 163 times more than Anthony Bennett did.

Turner for Bennett = bust for a bust

Lets keep Turner as he is a recovering bust who just wants to stick somewhere. He is worth his salary and his effort is commendable. He is a nice facilitator for our second unit and does some  little things we really need. Like handle the basketball and pass to open teammates.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
4 yr $20m is exactly the deal I was hoping for this offseason. He is a great player to have because he can be slotted anywhere from 1-3 with positive results. He has always been a playmaker, but his defense has improved leaps and bounds under Stevens.

If he can come affordably, I would love to have Turner back!

Has Bennett ever shown any value at all? Maybe I'm wrong but his up side has totally evaporated, he can be called a total bust.

While Turner, who does at times over reach his skill level, but can play 3 positions with varying degrees of success. I'll take Turner, until he can be grouped together with a package of players that can get us a player we can use to take the next step.

He showed some encouraging signs last year that suggested there might be untapped potential there.  He probably wasn't going to reach it, but he had tools that suggested he could.  There was enough there that I felt an argument could have been made that Bennett had more potential than anyone available to us at #16.  He's done nothing of significance this year... But neither has the kid we took #16.  Who knows if either will end up having a career.
