Massive overreaction.

The class is weak after Simmons but calling the #2 pick worthless is ridiculous.

Ingram looks like #2 rn and looks like he could be a stud scorer in the NBA kris Dunn looks like a really nice pure pg in the john wall breed. Basically really good at everything but shooting.

Jaylen brown is pretty similar to Stanley and justice but he is a more explosive athlete who is better at getting to the rim. Unfortunately he's a poor Shooter.

There are some wild cards like bender and some guys I don't love like lab and Murray and poeltl.

Ultimately I think that it will be Simmons a big gap then Ingram then a gap then Dunn brown lab(who I think will get it together) then maybe a wildcard sneaks his way in there and then another drop off to the rest of the draft.

That means if we want good talent we need a top 6 pick and the nets  pick is pretty much sure to provide that
That's all we need are more 1,2,or 3s that can't shoot to give to Stevens for his ball movement offense that depends on good shooting, especially from the 3pt line. I'm hoping we can use these picks to bring in someone like Butler or Cousins.

This is where my head is at as well.  Calling the pick "worthless"  was harsh but I see nothing in ingram that projects better than say RJ.  This team is already loaded with young potential...  We need a stud. And unless we get the 1st pick., trading it seems like the best route to get one.

RJ as in RJ Hunter?  On equal footing with Ingram?  I'll take Ingram, you can have RJ.

I don't believe that what we need are 3 more developmental kids to add to our vast collection of developmental kids. One NBA stud like Butler, Cousins, or Beal would be preferable.

I've  taken in a few college games and I've  been less than impressed with the prospects set to come out in next year's  draft.

After Simmons this entire class looks like D-league fodder. Can someone shed some light on All-star potential prospects based on performance, not hype (Skal and Murray look like a bad joke),  expected to come out next year. Cuz with a class this awful even a number two pick is worthless, unless we trade it now.

Im not sure what highlights your watching but Ingram is looking like an absolute stud. Just so smooth... Im all in for Ingram!!

Ingram could legitimately challenge Simmons for #1.

Ingram is 2nd best
But there is no way he is challenging Simmons for the top spot

Simmons easily looks like a franchise player
The gap is wide enough between him and the other prospects

I strongly disagree that Simmons is a complete lock at this point, and many Draft analysts agree with me on that.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Ingram could be to Simmons, what Curry is to Griffin.

Key phrase is could. If you have the number one pick you have to take Simmons(almost no chance of being a bust), but Ingram's potential is through the roof. His skill set is exactly what the Celtics need, Tall, athletic small forward with range and the ability to create his own shot. He started slow, but has adjusted to the speed of the college game. It could be the same for the league. I hope Brooklyn can gift us one of these two players.

After Simmons is a whole lot.

First:
Ingram. He makes the top two picks an interesting event.  Will the team with the first pick be so jonesing for an offensive player that they trade down a spot to take Ingram? That will depend on his and Simmons performance the rest of the college season.  Too much potential in both Simmons and Ingram for anyone to trade up to #2 this year.  That'll be a shut door.

Next:
Mr. potential Dragan Bender.  big risk big reward player of the draft.  I say take a shot.  worst case you've got yourself a good passer with a decent shot.

Then:
A shout out to an underrated guy:  Ellenson.  He's got the size and the shot.  Give him time and he'll come along and be a dang good player.

Finally:
The guy I want if we keep the lower picks:  Nigel Hayes.  Get him Danny.  Might take a couple years but then he'll be a great glue guy with a shot!  Not as good as Draymond Green but somewhere on the Posey-Green continuum (closer to Posey but with Green-like size)

Finally ps:
Malik Newman.  In 4 years he'll start to look like Eric Bledsoe with a bit more size.

Assuming we make no trades and end up with the Nets finishing in the bottom 5. If they do not land #1 overall, is our war-chest of draft picks enough to move up to #1?

Let's say we end up #4.....at that point, would our 1st, plus the mavs 1st be enough to move up 3 spots, or is that just a laughable thought?

I feel like depending on the team getting #1 overall, there is the possibility. Simmons is by far the #1 prospect, but Skal, Bender, and Ingram are not shabby consolation prizes.

The combo of one of the mentioned 3 (who will likely round out the top 4) plus two more 1st's?

Could Ingram be to Simmons what Towns was to Okafor?

This time last year there were still a lot of people who thought it was a 1 player draft.  Okafor or bust.

Nonetheless, it doesn't matter... we aren't getting either.

For reference, this is what the mock drafts showed literally 1 year ago today:

The "consensus top 2" on Jan 2nd means jack squat.

I still don't think it's a guarantee we get a top 5 from Brooklyn, though.

From what I've watched so far, I'd be just as happy with Ingram as Simmons. He already has a sweet jumper from 3, and really looks like a Durant-lite to me.

Jaylen Brown and Bender are the consolation prizes. Each have potential to be big time players, but also seem a bit riskier to me (Brown - shot; Bender - athleticism).

I don't like Scal, and I'd prefer not to pick Dunn or Murray do to guys already on our roster but a bit later in top 10 I do like Ellenson and Poeltl. Ellenson reminds me of a Kevin Love/Troy Murphy type, and Poeltl looks like a legit 2-way C prospect to me.

Farther down the board Dwayne Bacon, Malik Beasley and Malik Newman intrigue me as scorers.
TP to this man...Brandon Ingram will be better than Simmons in the Pros.Ben Simmons will be great but he has to develop his jumper. I personally think Skal Labissierre will be a long term prospect bht will be good eventually.Ivan Rabb and Jakob Poeltl will have immediate impacts as bigs if Rabb comes out. But Dwayne Bacon will be the steal of the draft if he isnt chosen in the top 5.

Ainge and one of the Celtics owners were at the Duke/BC game.  Ingram put on a show for them.  His overall skillset is amazing.  He uses his length very well.  He's the real deal and he's a year younger than Simmons.  I still think Simmons will go #1 but so far I prefer Ingram.

I think it is way to early to quit on Skal Labissiere. I also think it is way to early to say anyone is a consensus first pick, second, third, etc. I still think Ben Simmons is one but there is tons of time left. I still think Skal Labissiere is two or three, but we will see it is still very early. That scout that trashed Skal should be ashamed of himself. It seemed personal. Skal is still a kid no need to be so mean, jeez get a life.
