a simpler deal would be young, lee, jerebko, and the nets pick for carmelo. we get a star and a go-to scorer in melo, they get a shot at simmons and an increasingly decent-looking prospect in young.
we could surround melo with shooters and defenders; his offense would free up smart, bradley, crowder, etc to really focus on defense. we'd be a very tough team, though i don't know if it would be quite enough to put us over the top. thankfully, we'd have plenty more trade assets and cap space to get another star, maybe two.
however, i think NY waits until the offseason to see if they can lure a star to NY to pair with melo. if they can't, our chances of landing him improve considerably.
