Yes. Nothing else to spend money on. Fills a big need. Who would you rather have a young Whiteside or old Amir and Jonas combined 18 million.

Amir and Jonas are just two years older than Whiteside. Not much of an age disparity there.

But anyway, I'd rather invest my money on someone who I can rely on in the 4th quarter. Whiteside is a great talent but if you noticed during the Heat game they didn't play him in the 4th quarter because of his free throw shooting woes. He fits into the Deandre Jordan/Dwight Howard/Andre Drummond fold. Great defensive talents/elite rebounders whose FTs issues are exploited if played in crunch time.

And Whiteside is 26, so locking him up for four years would be a good bet.

It might not be because for all we know Whiteside will turn into Mark Blount once he gets paid. And the only guy who comes to my mind when it comes to centers to commit to long-term is Demarcus Cousins. Celtics do have the assets to get him but the issue is I don't see the Kings trading him.

My honest feeling is Danny will continue making bargain deals while trying to get his next franchise player in the draft unless the opportunity to acquire a star of DMC's caliber arises.

There are very few centers I would max out in the league. Particularly in our system where we tend to value our wing/swings more. I think we showed how to combat Whiteside in our game against the Heat. He doesn't match up well at all with shooting bigs and that seems to be where the league will be heading in the next 3-4 years with people like Towns and Porzingis maturing and guys like Olynyk, Love and Mirotic being a large part of rotations.
I'd rather go and max out someone like Harrison Barnes or make a run at the big free agents like Horford and Durant (no matter how ambitious)

Instead of paying Hassan 20 million a year, lets trade for an under the radar rim protector in Bismack Biyombo. Last night he recorded 20 rebounds against Zaza (10.5 rebs per 28.4 mins) and the Mavs!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y29NrajHzWQ

In his last 5 games he is averaging 15.8 rebounds per 33.8 minutes! He is pretty much worthless on the offensive side of the ball, but at the same time he is an elite pick n roll defender, elite rebounder and elite shot blocker due to his extraordinary length and athleticism. All the guy wants is to play big minutes for a team that actually knows how to use him. Trade for him Danny! Give him a chance to play 30 minutes per game alongside Kelly/Sully and see what happens. We have a huge problem defending the pick n roll and protecting the paint. Biz is exactly what we need and fits really well in CBS’s fast-paced system.

No I don't think his skill set is an ideal system match and worry that he will turn to a pumpkin when he gets paid. Not worth the risk

He is on a $2,814,000 contract with a player option of $2,940,630 for next year. Even if he opts out I can’t see him resigning for big money because he is still very raw offensively and many people consider him to be a bust.

Only real worry for me is his actual age. Officially he is 23, but there are legitimate concerns that he may actually be a little bit older than that.

I believe he was talking about Whiteside, not Biyombo.

another point to consider is how whiteside fits within the CBS offensive system. he isnt just bad at scoring, he is a black hole as well. when he gets the ball the offensive flow is over.

in his 4 years in the nba whiteside has:

94 games
2021 minutes
21.5 minutes/game
12 assists total in his career

this season he has a total of 6 assists. let me repeat SIX ASSISTS AFTER 27 GAMES!

as a point of comparison, IT is AVERAGING 6.8 assists per game this season. he averages more assist in one game than whiteside has assists total this season.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

No. Love his play, most of the time, right now. But I fear he will be Blount 2.0

I have wondered that too. Also, something about Miami doesn't really add up. Chris Bosh definitely still plays at an all-star level. Wade is at worst, an above average starter. Deng and Dragic are probably  average to slightly above average starters. Winslow is probably a capable rotation player along with mcroberts. If they ave all these guys, and Whiteside is a max-level star center, why are they so average as a team? It could very well be that none of it is Whitesides fault, but it certainly gives off the impression of a good stats guy that doesn't equal as much for wins.
