I still scratch my head at why people think it a surprised that when posed the question a player wouldn't pick himself as the best.
Such a non-story and something to definitely not get worked up over.
Imo the better way is to stay humble ,name someone else but don't claim you are yourself. How full of it are you to do that?
Always keep working on your game , strive to improve.
Agree, in a way. It's a non story for us, but what it does is it puts an even more brighter target on your back, and on your team.
I get that he's competitive and he want's to be the best against his competition, but being humble goes a long way.
What's wrong with "I think I'm one of the best", or "I'm working to be the best", or "I'm right there with the top SG's in the NBA". That's a far better answer for this question and while you're not claiming to be on the top, you're still putting yourself as one of the elites.
Those answers doesn't put a ton of pressure for yourself and your team, and you and your team avoid media and fan backlash, like what's happening now.
