With the 76ers apparently ready to stray from the process,  which player from their team would you like to make a play for and what would you offer?

For me, it's embiid for 2018 nets pick and 2016 wolves pick or stauskas for our pick next year.

I don't think the Sixers are straying from the process. I think this is the point in the process where it's time to start thinking about bringing in free agents during the coming summer and they need to be ready for it when that happens.

That said, the Sixers are eventually going to have to move one of their young centers at some point and the Celtics should be in on those conversations in a big way.

Whoever said Stauskas must not really be following the team. He has not shown he belongs in the NBA at all this year. Brown has regularly lamented his effort and contribution on defense and he has been horrible at the one thing he was supposed to be good at , shooting. He could get cut at end of season if he doesn't show improvement.

If we traded the 18 Nets pick (almost guaranteed to be top 5) for Embiid (could be retired by then) I would wait outside the facility for Ainge.

Embiid has shown nothing more than following Greg Oden's footsteps, no thanks!

It makes trading by Staustas look like competent.  Glad we are on the same page here.

Traditionally shooters have a harder transition to the nba than bigs and hyper athletic types. Korver shot 35% in his rookie year, wouldn't we all love to have him now?

We don't like to admit it, but  top notch free agents aren't exactly lining up to come to us. We are going to have  to take a risk and hope it pans out... hence making a move for embiid or stauskas is not about who they are now, but who they may become

when I saw the thread title I thought it was like picking a kid to adopt for Christmas but in this case, put a Sixer on a real team for Christmas ;)

I'd like Covington and the Lakers Pick for Sully, Jerebko, and Young

the idea that that pick is 'guaranteed to be top 5' is one i've never understood.  with all the money available in the next few upcoming offseasons and a billionaire at the helm who is hellbent on winning that is now totally 100% in charge of every action and contract, there is no way to me that brooklyn doesn't do everything they can to acquire new talent, even if it means overpaying.  there are plenty of teams that will be in flux every year needing to blow it up and start over, and for every team that does that, it's another team that Brooklyn can pass, as they have already hit rock bottom i'd say.  i'd go so far as to say the most valuable Brooklyn pick to me is, and has always been, this year's pick.

I was always under the impression that the Williams move combined with the Johnson contract coming off the books after this season was a calculated effort in order to have as much space as possible to throw at free agents.  and there WILL be FAs that find the prospect of playing with a legitimate nba center and in the Brooklyn/NY market highly appealing.  just my .02

This was my thinking as well. I think the value of this pick will drastically decrease each year which is why I would be willing to swap it for the risk of embiid being the next greg oden. Our medical staff thus far has been excellent in evaluating prospects with injuries.  But this has to be done  befofe he actually is healed, a healthy embiid has more upside than an 76er currently on the roster

I would deff say that the 2016 Brooklyn pick would appear to be the most valuable. Idk if I would think of the next two as "almost guaranteed top 5".

But it's hard to see a clear avenue for them to really improve. They have no draft picks to trade or use, so they'll likely be looking to trade for some. They'll likely try to move either Jack or Young to do so. That could make them even worse in the short term. And it's hard to see them trading any package of guys on their roster for guys that would be a significant upgrade right now.

As you said, part of the Williams move was about saving money for this off-season but do we honestly think some kind of strongly impactful FA is going to sign there?  The only way that team could sign a guy good enough to make them any better than an eighth seed is if they got Durant to sign there. I think it's pretty safe to say that won't happen. So many other teams are going to have cap space, and so many other teams have better overall situations than Brooklyn. They'll likely hand over a top 5 pick to Boston this year. Lots of people are gonna be overpaying. Maybe they'll make a push to overpay a guy like Barnes or Sullinger but how much better could that make them. I don't think the next few picks are sure-fire top 5, but I think they're likely to at least be in the lottery, with a solid chance at top 5. Obviously the 2016 Brooklyn pick is our best draft pick but the other two picks from them are looking good too.

Any thoughts of the Sixers trading Embiid are absurd. They are hanging the hopes of their franchise on his return to health.
