I have seen a few trade ideas both in the forum and in the media centered around the Cs making a move in Feb for Gallinari. Trading him seems to make long and short term sense for both teams as Denver will likely not make the playoffs this year are will be best served embracing a full on rebuild and the Cs seem like a nice fit for Gallinari. What I am interested in is if Faried could/should be included.

Say the follow trade is on the table, this is a rough idea as salaries and roster spots would need to worked out and a third team is likely needed.

Cs sends out: Lee, Sullinger, Turner, Young/Hunter, Cs 2016, Mavs 2016 and 2 (2nd round picks)

Denver sends out: Gallinari, Faried and Miller

Right off the bat my first question is who has more value Faired or Sully? Sully is younger with a more diverse offensive skill set but also not under. Faried is under contract with a better physical profile. If the Nuggets view this as a possessive acquisition then the question is does Farieds lack of skill fit with BS style of play?

Post trade roster outlook

Denver,

They would likely start a very young lineup of Mudiay, Harris, Turner Sully and Nurkic. With a bench of  Hickson, Barton and Young/Hunter. Lee would be a prime buy out candidate. This team would be bottom of the lottery bound with possible as many as 6 first round picks this year but at least 3. That coupled with a ton of cap space would put the team in position for a quick rebuild centered around Mudiay Nurkic and their 2016 top 5 pick.

Celtics,

Faired's fit is my biggest question mark but as I explored last year the Spurs where very successful with a lineup that heavily featured Tiago Splitter who equal to Faried in his inability to space the court. The Cs would likely be looking at Gallinari starting and sending Crowder to the Bench (while still playing 25+ mpg) and Faried taking Sullys spot in the lineup. The loss of Lee would them open up around 15 minutes in the back of the rotation for Jerbko, Zeller or Mickey. The inclusion of Miller would give the Cs a vet presence and added shooting both of which could be helpful come the playoffs. While the Faried for Sully portion of this trade hurts the Cs on offense the addition of Gallinari would change the offense for the better. He and Thomas would become the teams 1a and 1b scoring options with AB as the third leading scorer. Couple that with the hopefully continued emergence of KO and the Cs become a tough offensive match-up.

I think Gallo fits a real need and takes a lot of pressure off of IT to produce points. I also think people have been pretty quick to give up on Faried but his playstyle fits right in with the tough, bulldog mentality we have going on here. Plus, those 2 seem like high character guys and would integrate themselves well with the rest of the team.

I do think we're giving 1 first-rounder too many. I'd keep one of them. Other than that, I think it's a solid deal for us.

I feel you are giving up way to much here. I want Sully long term over Faried and wouldn't do that part of the deal. I would explore just Lee, Memphis 1st, Dallas 1st, and a couple of second rounders and either Hunter/Young for Gallinari. That's 4 picks, a propect and an expiring contract for Gallo which I think is enough.

I'd take Sully over Faried over the next 4-5 years. Like Nickagneta said, Just Lee, Young/Hunter and some picks for Gallo is the best deal. We have so many picks and this is the kind of situation to use them. Say:

Denver Receives: Lee, Young, Boston 1st 2016, T'Wolves 1st 2016, CLE 2nd 2016.
Boston Receives: Gallinari

If you include Sully you need to get either Jokic or Nurkic back in the deal to give us some size, but I doubt Denver would listen to that.

While I would like to trade for Gallinari, I would not like to trade for Faried as well. Faried is a high motor and high caracter guy on. Generally i like him. He is also probably making less now then Sully will make next year. However he does not stretch the floor at all and unlike Sully I do not think that he would work well as undersized center. He is strictly a PF. Gallinari probably works best and will see a lot of minutes as stretch 4. The Brooklyn pick still looks like a top 5 pick. There is a good chance that we take a guy who will see minutes at PF with that pick (Simmons, Skal, Bender). Amir, KO, Mikey, Zeller, Jerebko are still there in that scenario. So we still would have too many guys who want minutes at the PF spot. I would like it much better if we could do something like: Turner, JJ, Sullinger, Celtics 2016 (lottery protected) 2 2nd rounders for Gallinari.

I agree that maybe the case, Faried for Sully is exactly where Im hung up on this deal. However the bigger question is what is it going to take to keep Sully? Remember Tristan Thompson just signed a 5 year 82 mill deal granted he shares an agent with Lebron and this placed the franchise in a tough space but it still established a precedent. So if its Faried for 11 mill or Sully for 13-16mill I think I lean toward Faried.
