Since OKC potentially is in rebuilding mode and the chances that Westbrook will leave are strong

Rebuilding or not, Westbrook is still young, why on earth would OKC do that.

You will remain at 0 Tommy points for this post. This trade isn't realistic even in a fantasy world.

Not even in NBA 2K16 with "god mode" turned on.

If we have the 14th slot in the lottery we'll still have a better chance at Ben Simmons than Westbrook.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Could you imagine Ben Simmons in that game last night with our current squad? Time to lose out Nets and for our lottery luck to finally change

Smart + Sully + Brooklyn 2016 1st rounder = reasonable offer.

Only if OKC do indeed rebuild. Otherwise, a non-starter.

I think even if you include the potential top 10 pick from Brooklyn, it still might not be enough.   It's not a bad offer, though.  Smart could still develop into something.  The pick could land a decent player.  Sully has played pretty well this year.

Probably have to throw in the Dallas pick, too, along with matching salaries. If the Dallas pick is around pick 10 and the Brooklyn pick around pick 4, I think that's a reasonably fair deal, though they might ask for one of Rozier, Hunter, Mickey, or Young, too.

lol

OKC has zero incentive to move Westbrook. OKC hangs up the phone for any offer that doesn't include a different superstar coming back.

Where is this "OKC rebuilding" stuff coming from? They're 3rd in the West and their entire roster is in its prime.

Yeah, I don't know where this is coming from. I think it was meant to mean if Durant leaves this summer, which seems to be the only logical explanation for why they'd trade Westbrook right now.

Smart is great and all, but he hasn't really shown enough to be the centerpiece in a deal for a star. That's why the Brooklyn pick would be necessary in any deal for him. Right now Smart would still be the nice extra part of the deal, but not the main part. The other thing that's a drag on him is he's always hurt.

Durant is really the guy I'd want even if it's unrealistic. He would be perfect as a 3-4 in our lineup. Plugging in Westbrook would be adding a great talent but it wouldn't solve as many problems with the team that Durant's addition would.

I'm starting to optimistically think that, if the Celtics continue to make noise in the league, they might actually have a shot at convincing that first star to come over in FA or trade (remember, it's hard to deal for an established guy if he says he doesn't want to come, he still usually has to agree) even though we have no other obvious stars on the roster currently.

How about this: Trade for Cousins and sign Durant outright! Then draft Durant's eventual replacement in two years with Brooklyn's pick when they're still horrible!
