Anyone else concerned about the safety of NBA/sports stadiums ?

I was thinking bout this the other day with all these terrorists attacks lately . I have been to a bunch of C's game the last few years , and was really surprised at lack of security entering the arena . They have a gate where you give your ticket and are let in , but to my knowledge there was no checking of bags , and no metal detectors .

Just last year you had two incidents in the TD Garden . One where a man was stabbed in the stands , and another where a man was knocked out because some young punks were playing the knock out game ( I believe they got away with it too because there was no security cams in the area where this occurred ).

I know people who easily sneak booze in to , because they don't check for that .

Has the security changed at all since last season ? because this had me concerned .....

I'm not too worried about inside stadiums.  It's actually the entrances themselves where the crowds are so large, and before people have even been searched at all, that worry me.

There are no back packs allowed anymore. I'm not sure if this is was the case last year.

No, I'm not concerned about it. I'm not concerned about going to holiday parties either. That doesn't mean I have no concerns, but I don't about this

It's terrorism's job to terrorize. If you are changin the way you live life because of terrorism, the terrorists and ISIS are winning. I will continue to go to games, marathons, Christmas parties and anywhere else I want to go because I refuse to let them terrorists scare me. I would rather be a victim in a terrorist attack than change the way I live out of fear!

Security does seem ridiculously lax at some of these stadiums/arenas.  The "pat-down"?  C'mon.  That's not really gonna stop someone looking to do some damage. 

The higher profile events do tend to have a lot more security to them which is good (Super Bowl, World Series, etc) , though but some of the security at regular season games (especially baseball) is a joke, IMO. 

Am I concerned?  Sure.  But not to the point where its causing me to change anything when it comes to attending live sporting events.  Its just scary to think the "what could happens".

Fundamentally, the world is not less safe than it was a year ago, though. So if  you weren't worried then, no reason to be worried now.

I'll be honest, I was a little spooked at an event that I went to on November 15th.

I went to the Pats/Giants game at the Meadowlands, two days after the Paris attacks.

We stayed right near the Met-Life Stadium the night before and went into the city. On the way in, entering the Lincoln Tunnel, there had to be 20 guys in tactical gear and automatic weapons, same amount coming out of the Tunnel.

Times Square and the Port Authority terminal looked like armed camps. At Met-Life, the next day, same thing: tactical forces were there, bag checks, metal detectors, pat downs etc. I know that all that stuff is there for our protection, but man, it was pretty unsettling.

National TV game with two very high profile teams at 4:20 with the world watching, two days after the Paris attacks where a soccer stadium was attacked....the security people looked pretty edgy, which made a lot of folks that I spoke too in the stands, including me feel edgy too.

Had a great time, saw a great game (found a great bar where beer and drinks are cheap, the all you can eat tailgate costs $14 dollars and they provide a shuttle to and from the game including parking there for $30 per car) and once the game started all the negative thoughts drifted away.

But, yes, I am concerned about the safety of sports stadiums in general.

Went to the Bulls game. They had about 10 cops outside that I could see. Another 7 or so in the lower part of the building. It definitely makes you feel safer seeing all the cops there. It's by no means a soft target. Also, they have metal defectors when you walk into the arena.

I usually park around the corner for cheaper parking. I was probably more uneasy there, since there were no cops on that street, than in front of the stadium.
