i think the sixers selling of their team for picks and more picks  and trying constantly to get top picks... is harming the league the sport the team itself...
why the h... were they paying hinkie all these years?
pay me and i will destroy any team in a second....
he sold a plan which on paper is just a way show that he was  smarter than the others..
bottom the team with every possible way for 4-5 years, sellect top picks... and then with the cap space attract 1-2 great free agents..
the carter williams trade was meaningless
drafting 3 centers was meaningless..
the issue is to try to improove every year... i can understand a team that bottoms for one season if they see that after february they cannot reach playoffs...
if i were silver i would ban the sixers from the next 3 drafts and hinkie once and for all from the league... and change this draft system that helps those who are not trying
because it is the league's interest not to loose possible stars.... lets hope okafor noel and embiid will abandon this team in free agency... the team wanted them to loose... badly

If the league could force an owner to sell his team than maybe they could also do what you're mentioning.

Another option would be to just ban them from the lottery. Make their pick start at 15 for the next 3 years.

ah yes a sure fire way to make sure the team isn't terrible.

How about contracting the Sixers? They're not really an NBA team right now, anyway.

Just need to change the lottery system to where tanking for multiple years is not a viable option.

Teams who pick at the front on the draft one year , need to go to the back of the line ...

What's wrong with decent sports presentation.... ::)...try playing ball , hire a new GM , new coach , trade players , sell players , new Front office mgmt ,  what ever .

I'd be totally disgusted waiting for years and watching D league basketball that is put out there on purpose.

NASCAR had a simular problem.....they had guys qualifying their race cars ......then park them ....racing 3 laps then park ......collect a paycheck ......milking the system designed to help struggling racers .   So the 76ers collect there share of the profits ....for putting out a bad product .

Once you win the lottery , it's time to move on ....play ball .....not gamble or pee away years of fans favorite basketball team based on odds of MJ 2.0 showing up.

I don't think NBA should make owners sell the team....

But teams that do not try play ball ......well they are milking the system.....like basketball welfare ....

Tanking teams are using the others money to support a " NO competition ". Philosophy

This is wrong and no fair to to the franchises  putting out a team trying to,win every night......paying the bills to support Phillys tanking project.

I would suggest .....MAJOR cuts in the 76ers share of money for purposely putting a flawed product out on the court at the EXPENSE of the rest of the cities trying play correct.

I could live to be 1,000 years old and I doubt I'd ever understand why fans care so much if a team tanks or not.  And everyone talking about how awful they are, the last I checked, they've never finished with the worst record during this stretch.  Maybe they're proving that a team of young, hungry players just as good as team full of washed up, overpaid vets that are only in the league for a paycheck?

And as Moranis mentioned, taking high lotto picks from struggling teams will only insure that they'll continue to struggle.

Take away their share of revenue , that will get the childish owners attention.

I heard the Owners Raised the price of ticket on the Philly fans for the Lakers game because Kobe was playing......I hope this is not true .......just another hit below, the belt for true fans wanting to show,up for games.

The Owners of the 76 ers should not be allowed to put a inferior product out for the sake of trying to draft a star .   More, than one year in a row should result in penalities worse than not tanking .

Build a team , play the best you can , let the chips fall where they may.......smh

The rest of the NBA owners needs to do MORE to keep this, type of monkey business down to a minimum .

Allowing this type stupidity , does not help the league .

I don't think Philly should be allowed the first pick .....they have not played like professional s and don't deserve the the top draft pick
.

It's still a form of punishment and would deter other teams.

I think one year of tanking and maybe 2 years is ok. But the sixers may be tanking the next two years going forward still. It's not my particular feelings on the Sixers, but if the owners felt the Sixers were hurting the league, doesn't it seem possible a punishment may be coming if they continue this?

Wow thats pretty low, about the Sixers over charging to watch Kobe.

They should be rewarding their fans for showing up to watch their terrible teams.

They could have raised the prices, but offered a discount (no raise) for season ticket holders wishing to purchase additional tickets.

Great response to a silly thread.

Well played.

Punishing them by banning their draft picks for three years isn't going to help the underlying problem that they are a horrible team that is ruining a large television market for the league and generating less revenue for the league as a I couldn't think, my world crashed in.
He lost the love between me and him.
The shock created a terrible fear
All this started that tumultuous year

My mind spun the more he spoke
The tears poured forth, my hear was broke
Our time was over, that much was clear
He hurt me deep, in that tumultuous year.

My vision cleared I saw all his lies
It was all right there before my
He wasn't the man that seemed so sincere
I lost it all in that tulmutuous year

I talked to family, I talked to friends
I tried to bring this hurt to an end
I met a man, a hurting peer
Could things get better in that tumultuous year?

We spoke of heartache while we walked
Our feelings burst forth as we talked
When we saw each other a connection was there
My life started over in that tumultuous year

He listened intently, he knew my pain
He was what I needed for me to regain
A normalcy if life that did disappear
My life got better in that tumultuous year

Friendship became affection that led to a kiss
He made me happy I felt a new bliss
I felt safe and secure when he was near
I started to feel happy in that tumultuous year

He made me feel special he made me feel free
And then one day he said he loved me
My feelings overwhelmed me, I burst into tears
For I knew it was the end of that tumultuous year

That said, for their blatant attempts to maximize their chances at getting a number one pick, I would have no problem banning them from winning the lottery for three years, thereby forcing them to attempt to get better because the best they can do is get the fourth pick

I was just having this same conversation earlier today. They have deliberately gotten worse over the years beside 1 or 2 picks. They are way under the salary cap and waive guys that could help. They traded the ROY for really nothing. It's a slap in the face to fans and hurts the game in general. Rebuilding is fine and could be a long process. However the league should be stepping in when they see things that are detrimental to the team and game. If they continue to not try to get better then heavy fines should be put on ownership and management for decisions that are bad. Imagine that locker room and the way the guys feel in there.
