Should we Start James Young

Love getting up to see just how far the pendulum's swung.  TP to OP for optimism.  But the answer is of course nope!  Young played well but the Pels' D was also pretty terrible.  He should earn some extra minutes going forward, though.

I think him starting is a reach...you want to build confidence, not destroy it.

If he can get minutes, and not hurt the team, he will at least have a chance to find his game as he goes. He will either develop into a valuable player, or up his trade value. Because right now, he has zero trade value.

It seems more than a few posters are viewing James Young thru rose tinted glasses.  this kid has done nothing to warrant more court time except for all the hype until now that he has never lived up too.  last night against New Orleans, after playing 20 minutes, he blew 3 out of 3 three pointers, missed 2 out of 2 free throws and jocked up a couple shots where he was out of control. the only thing he could have done to make his night a complete failure would have been if he puked on himself!!!
I really liked this kid but he seems to have a problem playing outside the D-League. yes, he's young but he has got to show something, quickly.

He was the next man up which means he must be higher than Roz now. Also, as good as RJ is at being in the right spot on defense, he doesn't have Young's strength which he displayed tonight. A couple more games like this, he might move ahead of RJ also but it's only one game.

Stevens pretty much said it was because they needed a little more size so they could switch on Ryan Anderson that had Young ahead of Roz last night.  While it's good for young that he can get into a game depending on match ups and injuries ahead of him, let's not get remotely carried away.  RJ is very much ahead of him, and Rozier simply plays a different position.

He had his best game of his career, and scored all of four points to go with three rebounds in 20 minutes.  He's not on the cusp of breaking into the rotation.

The only thing more predictable than waking up to this thread was browsing all of the headlines that insinuate, with utmost cleverness and originality, that James Young is not particularly old for basketball player. IN FACT, as it happens, the opposite may be the case.

People seem grateful that James Young provided some mediocre help rather than his typical incompetence.

People are happy that he may not be as much of a waste of time as Fab Melo.

His ceiling is probably Gerald Green. Maybe in five or ten years we will hear about him finally making and helping an NBA team on anything other than unproven so-called potential. Jeff Green has had a hall-of-fame career in comparison if James Young is going to be spun as a real prospect.

Last night was somewhat good news for Danny Ainge and James Young, not so much for anyone else.

At least Bradley was a top prospect with ready made NBA defense and was clearly suffering from deer in the headlights syndrome.

James Young is as raw as it gets. Take away his deer in the headlights syndrome and how good is he really? As good in comparison to Bradley's underlying game? I don't think so.

Maybe we should wait for James Young to truly have a good game before he makes the jump from the #15 deadwood position on the roster to someone with real potential?

Its funny to think but the best three point shooter that Ainge has drafted over the last these years is also the tallest guy he drafted. None of his guard draft picks have proven they are any better at hitting a three as Jared Sullinger is.
