Should we Start James Young

 Some major hope for Young tonight. Coach played 8 guys at least 20 mins and he was one of them.

 He must be improving in practice he looked much more alert on defense and he is capable of getting hot quick. Will he drop 25 this year.

He was the next man up which means he must be higher than Roz now. Also, as good as RJ is at being in the right spot on defense, he doesn't have Young's strength which he displayed tonight. A couple more games like this, he might move ahead of RJ also but it's only one game.

Very impressed with Young tonight. His defense was spot on. Not only his man to man, but the way he showed and recovered off the ball. Good boxing out on the boards. He showed a lot of overall awareness. He's taken a step in the right direction and has definitely improved.

Yep, I had the same impression. Defense, especially rotations, and boxing out/rebounding. He was conscientious in running the floor, too... seemed very locked in tonight, like he has realized what will earn him PT in the long run. That report about sleeping on his shoulder wrong was strange, but he did show up tonight (regardless of competition). I'm an RJ fan and would like to see him grow... kid has had upside from the jump... but surprisingly pleased with Young tonight. If he never played in another NBA game, I think I'd still have positive regard for him after a single, solid showing tonight. Just speaks to his character, which seemed to be in question for a while now.

Man if James Young turns into a player I'll eat every bit of crow coming to me. An engaged, aggressive James Young would be huge for this team and he's really reaching the age where where his body could develop physically. Personally I remember how much more coordination I got in my early 20's compared to my teenage years.

Between him and Sullinger I might have to seriously reevaluate my evaluation skills.

I'm not sure why everyone is praising Young's defense. It was absolutely terrible last season, and it's been upgraded to 'mediocre' after this 20 minute stretch on the court vs New Orleans. He was actively trying to stay aware of his man, and he's starting to get his hands into passing lanes, but go back and watch his minutes and how many times his man or the player he was switched on to got an easy open look or basket.

His defense is still not ready for regular rotation minutes by any means. Luckily Ish Smith isn't a three point threat.

I am glad he got some decent time on the court though. He's a mental midget and if he's going to ever become at least a serviceable role player he's got to get his confidence up. He still tends to float around on offense just waiting in the corner, watching, rather than looking for opportunities to slash or cut to the basket from the weakside.

I'm not sure if he can go right, but at least he was aggressive going left a few times which was good to see.

The nice thing about Young tonight was that his defense has gotten better- although not NBA caliber yet, he's starting to get it.

The nicest thing was how hard he played. He played hard on both ends and wasn't as lackadaisical as he often is.

He's got a long way to go but he's still only 20 years old.

It's way way way way way way way way way too early to be thinking James Young should be getting regular rotation minutes, never mind starting minutes. The notion that James Young needs starting minutes is absurd. He had a decent 20 minute stretch for the first time in 15 months of professional basketball. How about we realize that James Young is probably going to be splitting time with RJ Hunter and Terry Rozier for 12th man on this team this year and that's about it.

Heck for those of you that are so into the notion that Ainge tells Stevens who to play so that he can showcase them for a trade(something I find ludicrous), doesn't Young's sudden appearance make you think he might be being showcased for a move to another team?
