The Pelicans are currently 4-15 on the season. More than likely they will miss playoffs and end up with a top 5 lottery pick.

I think Ainge should take advantage of their losing situation by helping them get slightly worse to max out their lottery chances.

DISCLAIMER: The following trade proposal is contingent on the value of the Dallas & Boston 2016 1st round picks at the deadline. This trade would ONLY be made IF the DAL & BOS picks ARE NOT lottery picks. IF either is a lottery pick, then the pick(s) would be considered too valuable and there's no way Ainge would make this trade.

Here's the breakdown:

TO BOS: Evans/Anderson/Douglas/Babbit/Perkins

TO NO: Lee/Jerebko/Turner/Olynyk/Young

            2016 DAL 1st
            2016 BOS 1st

            2017 CLE 2nd

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Douglas & Babbit would both have non guaranteed contracts for next season.
Perkins is on a one year deal. We'd likely end up waiving Douglas.

Depth Chart after trade:

Smart/IT4/Rozier
Evans/Bradley/Hunter
Crowder/Evans/Babbit
Sully/Anderson/Mickey
Amir/Zeller/Perkins
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THOUGHTS? Giving up too much, too little?

Glen Davis signed w/ the Pelicans????

Theres no way you mean Anthony....you've got to lower your expectations

We could give up every good asset we own and I'm wiling to bet the Pelicans still wouldn't trade us Anthony Davis...

No.  Let's not trade half of our roster and four draft picks.

Terrible trade idea...

Why would we package those picks and non-guaranteed contracts with semi value for Anderson/Evans?

What is with these recent trade ideas where we throw all of our lucrative assets, for players that aren't anywhere near Allstar talent? Throwing away the major of our picks? Don't get it.

I'm willing to bet the Pelicans would salivate at the chance to get 2 first round picks, two second rounders, and plenty of cap space to pursue free agents with the Lee contract. A potential lottery pick in Young, KO/Jerebok who basically do what Anderson does, and Turner who can pretty much bring to the table what Evans can at a far cheaper contract.

I appreciate when anyone takes the time to think out and post trade proposals.

But that's just an absolutely terrible trade for the Celtics. So, not only would we trade KO (a very talented young player on a rookie contract and is a 7 foot PG with Range), but also Lee and Turner (who have been helping is win games), Jerebko (a coaches favorite who happens to often be around when good things happen, good hustle/bench guy who can shoot) and Young (a 20 year old kid who's got a very good skill set but has had very limited chances in the NBA with C's deep roster. Dominated DL), but ALSO the PHI 2nd this year (Fairly valuable because of contract differences, likely #31-34) AND BOTHH of our non-Nets 1sts this year for Tyreke Evans and Ryan Anderson? Man, your basically giving them younger versions of those guys just in Olynyk and Turner. Sure, Tyreke is a lot better version of Turner but they're similar. And then all those other guys and picks? Way too much

There's only one guy that I think could be poached from the Pelicans roster, that I'd love to see us get: Ish Smith.

This guy was playing outstanding basketball - but now that Tyreke Evans is back - he's not needed.  We could use him.  He has a one year - $1.101M contract (non-guaranteed) left.

His restriction expires on December 14th - so it would be another 10 days until a deal could be done.  It might also take a 3rd team to pull this off.

My concern is Marcus Smart - he's injury prone, and we're seeing that he can't be counted on with regard to his health.  Smith is an underrated player who has a nice all-around game.

One disclaimer I forgot to make was the fact that this trade would ONLY be made IF the DAL and BOS picks aren't lottery picks. IF either is, then they hold more value and there's no way Ainge would make the trade.

At the deadline if it looks like Celtics and Mavs will make playoffs, and all we're giving up are two 1sts in the 15-23 range, then I wouldn't hesitate to give up those two picks as part of the trade.

Yes, the Philly 2nd has higher value than a late 1st--which is why I added it to sweeten the deal. It can be taken out if it's too much.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bottom line: I think we should trade for Evans & Anderson. That means we have to clear any logjams in order to create room for them to get quality minutes, all-the-while compensating the Pelicans for downgrading their talent.

- Anderson is an upgrade over Olynyk

- Evans is similar to Turner but still considered a big upgrade (someone who Ainge has coveted in the past)

- Lee won't be here next year after we upgrade our roster--so he's simply a filler in the trade

- Young still has potential but its going to become increasingly harder to dedicate 1 of 15 roster spots to him with all our incoming draft picks and potential free agent signings.

It depends on who we give up in the 3 team deal. We already have Turner, IT4, and Rozier to man the PG position behind Smart.

Smith would basically take Roziers opportunities to showcase his talent

We need to make a 2 for 1 or even 3 for 1 trade to clear up roster logjams. I am all for trading for Reke. Perhaps if the Pelicans decide to blow things up, we might be able to take him at a reasonable price.

Turner, Zeller, Kelly or Sully (plus a second rounder?) for Reke?

I guess New Orleans hangs up the phone and laughs. But then again, you never know. Their current record stands at 5-15 (3rd worst in the league).

Do people ever look at the stats of these guys and then their win losses and then think that their stats may be the problem in of themselves, or is it just me?  If Anderson is averaging 18ppg and Evans is averaging 15/9/6 while playing next to one of the top 5 players in basketball, you have to wonder why they can't win.

It's almost like they're stat chasers who don't play any defense.....

More like they're two players in the Western Conference playing on a Pelicans team that just isn't good enough to compete for a title.

What you're getting out of both players:

Anderson=good 3pt shooter who can space the floor and is perfectly capable of playing decent defense (he is NOT a liability)

Evans=good scorer/playmaker who can help move the ball in Steven's motion offense. Good rebounding guard who can play PG/SG/SF. Sounds a lot like Turner, but he's an upgrade. He is a capable defender

I'd go hard for Davis. Bring him home with us.
AB, IT, Crowder, Lee, Sully and all 1st this year + 2018 Nets pick.
For
Davis, Holiday, Gordon

Smart/Rozier
Holiday/Gordon
Turner/Hunter/Young
Davis/Mikey/JJ
AJ/KO/Zeller

Offseason sign KD.
Smart, Holiday, KD, Davis, AJ is a contender.

What kind of silly assertion is this? It's almost as if their record is largely due to the fact that literally half the team was out with injury to start the season. 31-year-old, 5'9" Nate Robinson coming off an ACL tear was their starting point guard for the first two games. Perkins was the starting center.
