To be more clear here's an example for Option 3:

Give up the following for Hayward & Favors:

Young Players: Bradley, Olynyk, Rozier, Young

Picks: 2016 BOS 1st, 2016 DAL 1st, 2017 BYKN 1st (via right to swap), & 2018 BKYN 1st

Fillers: Lee, Jerebko

There should be another option... just YES... Regardless of our "core" guys.

I think I'd be leaning to yes.  I am concerned that none of the Brooklyn picks will be top 5. And even if they are, we may not get the quality of either Hayward or Favors.

Obviously - I would do it right now and just hope that the pick doesn't end up #1 (Simmons). Favors and Hayward would completely change our team.

I  could've sworn I put 4 options (one being just YES) but apparently not, so I just added the just YES option

No.

Favours looks more like top 5 pick material to me (rather than top 3 pick material) - by that I think he looks like a very good player and borderline all-star, but not a superstar.  On the other hand I think our pick has a high chance of falling top 3, and solid chance of landing a future superstar.

I'm also not very high on Gordon at all.

So personally, I'd keep the pick.  I'd want a more dominant player than that if I'm going to give up a pick that has the potential to bring back a future superstar on a rookie scale contract.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Absolutely not.
Favors is great but Hayward is not. I'd prefer Crowder or Harrison Barnes over Hayward.

I understand the idea but the only way I even think about giving up that much is for Favors and Gobert.

That is a boatload of stuff to give away for two guys who aren't All Stars. I mean that's more than we gave away for KG.....way more.

We either give up that pick for a top 15 player or we roll the dice on a draft pick and pick our own guy.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

You could also argue that Crowder and Thomas completely changed out team - and we gave up far less to get them :D

I would say yes but above is too much I'd go
Lee, Turner, Sully, Young, KO, Nets 2016, Nets 2018, Dallas 1st, Wolves 1st.
For Favors and Hayward.
So I took out one Nets Pick for Wolves Pick. AB+Rozier was replaced with Sully, Turner and Lee. Leaves C's with

Smart/IT/Rozier
AB/Hunter
Hayward/Crowder
AJ/JJ/Mickey
Favors/Zeller

You still have 2017 Nets pick to root for again. I would also still go Barnes in off season. Offer Warriors Crowder and JJ for Barnes in S&T. Draft some size with Qi, Augusten, Vezenkov and Brimah.

Smart/IT/Rozier
Hayward/AB
Barnes/Hunter/Vezenkov
AJ/Mickey/Qi
Favors/Augusten/Brimah

I'm not trading anything for a combination of maybes. Sign-and-trade for Drummond or Beal or something like that. Otherwise thanks but no  thanks, we can roll the dice on someone from the draft.

In this we agree so here's a TP. I'm not in favor of giving away 8 1st round picks for guys who aren't even in the running for the All-NBA team. These guys are fine players but they're not superstars and they're both old enough that you're getting them at their peak (no more upside). Make those moves and maybe Boston is a 2nd round playoff team but nowhere near good enough to compete with the top dogs.

If Boston already had that bonafide #1 guy then I'd do this to get a very good supporting cast. But these guys aren't the leaders of the band and you're giving away virtually every tradable asset that could be used to get that bandleader.

Edit: 500th post!
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

Touche.

But we need to make a splash at some point. Hopefully Danny knows the right move when the option comes along. The OP's proposal (I just looked at it again) does look steeper than I remember.

Bad targets to go after coupled with a bad trade proposal means no. This team needs a superstar, not guys that could maye someday be All-Stars.

Isnt that too much for hayward and fsvors? Bradley sully and a first should be enough for hayward... and not the the nets picks...
