The Wizards are struggling, and among their many problems is someone to give them solid minutes at the 5 behind Gortat.  Their solution this week was to sign Ryan Hollins. Meanwhile, we have a perfectly capable backup center who can't get off our bench in Tyler Zeller. Seems like a potential match!

Boston gets:
Kelly Oubre Jr.

Washington gets:
Tyler Zeller
2016 Philly 2nd rounder (almost assuredly #31 overall).

I don't imagine Oubre would be a contributor this year, outside of garbage time, but he has the potential to be useful in the long run.  Wizards, meanwhile, want to put their best foot forward for Durant this season, and Oubre isn't going to help them in that endeavor.

Solid idea.

If it works, these are the types of trades I can get behind. If we aren't going to play Z we should send him some place that he can earn his next check.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Can I have Otto instead?

Not for Zeller you can't.  This was my Otto Porter idea over the summer.  I'd still do it.

Great idea. I think Oubre would face most of the same obstacles that RJ and Rozier do here (he's even more raw than those two), but this would definitely be a solid, high upside move.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

All for it. Why not put James Young in over the Philly pick? I think it makes a little more sense for both teams that way.

Zeller and Young for Oubre and Blair works. Blair is expiring.

2 reasons.  Firstly, salaries.  Secondly, I think the 2nd rounder is more valuable than Young at this point.

See above -- I added the Blair piece. That helps with both, but I agree with you the philly 2016 2nd is more valuable (which is why I wanna keep it!). Nonetheless I'd on board with the alternative.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Good idea, but they'd want more than an expiring Zeller and 2nd round pick.
They'd ask for Zeller+James Young+ 1 or 2 second round picks.

The other option is sending them Amir and Jerebko and taking back NeNe +Oubre.

A great prospect and we give Mickey some minutes.
We'd lose at least 5 more games though losing Amir inside.

We should hold on to Zeller until the deadline to see if there is a better deal or bigger deal he could be part of. I'd rater just ship him off for a future pick than someone whos not going to get minutes here either. Or maybe a pick swap option.

They've got Nene so why do they need Zeller.  I'm assuming the Hollins move was made to tide them over until Nene returns from his injury.

Why would they expect to get more than the mid first round pick (Zeller) and the 31st pick in next year's draft, for a mid first round pick? It's not like Zeller hasn't proven he can play, that he's durable, and that he can run the floor pretty well for his size.

Because they are giving up the best player/asset in the deal in Oubre and wouldn't be getting anywhere near enough in return. Tyler Zeller is worth *maybe* two 2nd rounders at most.

Would you give up Kelly Oubre for an expiring Zeller and late pick?
