It really can't hurt at this point with Amir and Sully out. Chicago played Bobby Portis big minutes the other night and he played great so why not play Mickey?
because they are different players on different teams?
Point was the Bulls played Portis because they didn't have many options. The Celtics were missing their starting bigs so I figured Mickey would get some burn because they didn't have many options tonight either.
Obviously the Celtics didn't turn to him tonight. Looks like his time will come later on. I can't say I'm surprised.
Bulls did have options, they were just coming off a 4OT game, they were getting spanked, and, in general, Mirotic has been woeful. But Pau, Noah, Taj, and Mirotic all played that game... Portis just got hot quickly in the 2nd, then saw extended minutes down the stretch.
Hoiberg has been saying he needs more minutes, and is ready, for quite a while now. He played tonight too, though fewer minutes, and basically watched a lot of hero ball. Noah looked to have dislocated his shoulder tonight though (speculating), so that may free up minutes.
Didn't help Mickey tonight that the four bigs in front of him played pretty well, though. May have gotten an opportunity if Jerebko had continued his cold streak.
