26 15 and 4 assists for Young in the win for Maine. 6 for 10 shooting three's. That would be something if he can rebound and shoot like that in the Pro's.

Rank d league top performers by stats.  I think my grandmother averages 20+ in that league.

Lol Young gets so much hate. If he struggles he is a bust if he balls it's only the d league. Dude can't win.

I don't understand why everyone is so ready to give up on this kid. He's clearly talented, he just needs to get out of his own head. We drafted a player who we knew was a project, now give him the chance to develop. He is the youngest player on our team after all, give him time.

No she couldn't.

Agreed.

Someone even said we should trade Young just to get rid of a roster space for Perry Jones, and I almost busted out laughing.

You guys hate on Young so much, but ignore the simple fact Jones has had so many chances to prove himself.

He's only like 20 years old.  He put up stats in d league last year.  He hadn't been able to do it in the NBA.  Maybe someday. I'm not hating on him I'm just saying that this game probably isn't a sign of anything.  Competition level in d league is weak.  All top college players should be capable of big stats against primarily undrafted semi pros.

I don't have stats to back it up but it seems to me that each time Young has been brought back to the NBA he has shown a little bit of what we hope he can become. I am still optimistic about Young. We can use the shooting if he ever translates it to NBA level.

But how was his defense?

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
We know Young can score and he has always had an easier time getting his three-point shot in the D-League than the NBA, but the 15 rebounds is pretty awesome. He is a SG/SF so he would have to be somewhat tenacious to get that many - very impressive and hopefully something he can build upon.

I think Young is a special shooter, he barely gathers himself and shoots those pretty rainbows. Unless the rims in Maine are lower or the line is closer that's stuff he can reproduce over here. Everyone knows Young can shoot, it's what got him into the league. The real issue with James Young is his defense and BBIQ. If Young is able to prove that he's not a defensively liability, he'll earn the minutes to prove his value on the offensive end. I think Young can be a major shooting threat for the Celtics in a year or two.

I've seen major improvements in his defense with just one off-season, so maybe by next season he'll be ready to contribute.

One thing I will say about Young that is positive, is he does get hot once he gets his confidence up. I just watched his last game and even  getting rebounds increased his confidence and he was more involved and kept getting board after board.
Really played well the second half. Career high 15 boards was nice to see. Even with the Celtics we have seen him get hot once or twice.

Still have hope for the kid.

he was pushed too early and was not physically ready for pros, his defence was abysmal-
it wasn't even fair-the kid knew he was going to get exposed and it got in his head and he could't even shoot after his 13pts and looked lost on court
he worked to gain muscle and bulk but he was still finding his way defencively and tense
it didn't help to see him rj getting press and time-and pick things up quicker and have defencive mindset
the kid can't shoot in nba till he gets his offensive skills and defencive play up to par because it gets in his head -he has to think too much defencively-first quarter he struggled in red claws game on both ends -i put it off

Wildly inconsistent and inefficient even at the nbdl. That's why he can't win

Nbdl has not even put up Young's nbdl performance from last night. But have for Rozier and mickey

As soon as someone has anything negative to say about James Young, they're a hater. how about non-believer.  I mean dang, the guys had chances. something just turns off in the kid's head when he plays in the real NBA and Danny can't be a babysitter!!!

D-Leagues all-time leading scorer wasn´t good enough in here. In a nation of 5 million people. In a city of 50.000 people. In a country that couldn´t care less about basketball.

That should tell you all about the level of competition in D-League.
