I love Marcus smart and believe he is a true franchise corner stone. Unfortunately his playing style seems to result in constant injuries. Some plays are freak accidents I get it but if he continues to get hurt I would think Danny starts looking at him being more expendable than he already is which isn't a good thing for Celtic fans like myself. Can we go atleast one month without some pesty little injury please

Because he plays like a bull in a china shop. Sometimes the china you break gets stuck in your foot.

Yep. More concerned with his lack of improvement offensively...

I'm becoming down on smart. His defense is great but his offense hasn't improved. I will say his passing and ballhandling are better. However I'm disappointed in his ineptitude to get into the paint area. It makes me question his first step, agility, etc.

Yep. First step is probably below avg for his position. Not a killer, though... he could still be effective in other ways.

Agility-wise, he tends to commit offensive fouls just bullying through people. But, at the same time, I vividly remember a nice drive, euro step, and banked floater in the OKC game that suggests he has agility, just isn't using it adequately.

He can also post. Marc Jackson could do wonders for the guy - half joking, half serious. That dude used to start posting up as soon as he crossed half court. Smart should incorporate that into his game. He doesn't need to be conventional, just has to find ways to score. Seems he can, he just isn't doing the right things. I hope that's the case, anyway... I'm getting down on him, too.

Lets give him a chance for pete's sake. We traded Billups way to early and watched him win a ring without us (and finals mvp if i remember right)

More than happy to give him time. Just wouldn't reject a trade for a significant upgrade  because it included him. Seems like DA probably wouldn't either.

Yes ....it's fun to watch him .....banging with the bigs in the paint.

He isn't a Rondo type guard .....he doesn't have the cuts , slashing ...small petite man moves.

He a big broad shouldered guy .

He scores TD with the ball ......

I love Marcus and Crowder s physical game .

Having your smalls playing like that wears heavy on an opponent .   It's like having extra Sullys on the floor , more guys to box out .more guys not afraid to rebound

Smart is not Ever going to,play like IT or Teague ......that's fine .....I love his game.

Marcus reminds me of a boxer that has a non stop relentless style of attack, he's always on full speed, his opponent get's used to his attack pace, and eventually learns to deal with it.

Smart needs to learn to play with the gas peddle, and toy with his speed of attack, so he's able to surprise his opponent at the right time, by setting traps. And save his body in the mean time.

Until he learns this he'll get injuries because he's set on kamikaze mode.

None of Marcus' injuries have been truly serious and they aren't a result of a weak body or defective parts of his body(like a Yao Ming foot or Jeff green heart). He gets dinged up because of hard physical play that is his style. The man isn't going to change the way he plays and shouldn't.

Some years he is going to have some injuries because of collisions, or hard landings, or stepping on feet, or getting whacked going for a ball. He might miss, 10-15 games a year during those years. Other years he won't miss time. Its really a matter of luck and to start his career he has gotten injured some. He hasn't missed whole years like Randle or Exum or Parker or Embiid. Just some games.

He'll be fine.

Similar body type and aggressive style to Artest. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/artesro01.html

With the exception of one season where he only played 7 games Artest was usually in the 60's and 70's for games played.  Of course, there were the suspensions...hopefully Smart avoids the craziness.

I think it's possible that bruised knee last night was more about his bruised ego. If he had been playing better lately, he probably battles through that injury. We pretty much found out after 2 minutes that none of the coaches or staff members were concerned about the injury. So how bad could it had really been.

Smart just needs to see some shots start falling to build up his confidence. He can't be shooting 33 percent like this.

I agree with what some others have said or hinted at, particularly Redz. Smart has the body to avoid the physical beating that thinner players would take, but his style is so aggressive, I'd expect him to consistently play around 65-70 games a season. I don't think that's a terrible thing, especially if the alternative is asking him to tone down the aggression.

In addition, as KeepRondo said, part of this could have to do with Smart's confidence. Part of it also could have to do with the fact that it was a late November game against an absolutely awful team. If this is a crucial game in March vs. Atlanta, for example, and Smart's adrenaline is running high as he's having a good shooting night (7-12, or something like that), I wonder if he stays in the game.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

amen. this is yet one more premature, hasty, ill thought out rush to judgement by folks here at cb.

may i suggest to some posters that they revisit, or visit, the "bradley is garbage and needs to be cut NOW" threads.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
