Please. It's the Houston Rockets you're talking about.

Yes, exactly, we were up almost 30 at one point against the 2014 Player's MVP.

edit: You can say what you wish to denigrate any win the Celtics earn, but you're talking about a team with vastly superior on-paper talent that merely has hit a bump in the road early on in the season. They looked like they were about to turn it around -- up 15 close to halftime. We changed the game by breaking their backs with tremendous defense. If you only watched the fourth, it may have looked like Houston lost the game, but it was our efforts in the game prior to that point that pushed them to quit. The Celtics should get credit for that.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

And? Rockets are a good team still

We were down 15 at one point and I thought that was probably it. Early last season we lose yesterday's game in a blowout after down by 15.  With this year's squad things are different

I agree, the Rockets, on paper, is still a better team, a more talented team than the Celtics.

It's not our fault that they quit. Or maybe it is our fault, because we played them tough, we didn't quit despite being down 15 at one point vs a team with an MVP caliber player, we defended, and we executed.

The Washington win was impressive. As were the ones against Atlanta and Oklahoma.

The Celtics are in league leader categories for a number of areas. Defense. Steals. Even free throw shooting, assists and point differential.

Sometimes the negativity here seems like a knee-jerk reaction based on old data.

NBA.com put the Celtics at the #6 slot for power rankings. To be negative right now when less than two years ago we were going to war with Kris Humphries and Jordan Crawford makes no sense to me. If I was that negative and cringed so much following the Celtics, I wouldn't be watching every game. I'd find a new hobby.

I'm not sure it's a case of being negative, but maybe a case of looking at the situation fully aware of the circumstances of some of Boston's recent opponents. For example, we caught Houston in the midst of a horrid slump. And we caught OKC playing without Durant.

But I agree that the Celtics are playing really good defense right now, and even with the knocks against Houston and OKC, those are still two nice wins. Plus the Cs have defeated the Hawks, Wizards, and Bucks. And the offense has been decent for three straight.

The "vastly superior on paper" team was 4-5 for the season before last night's game... and  you could easily see why.

As far as the negativity goes:

We are winning games that good teams should win. We beat teams in slumps. We beat teams with injuries. We beat Eastern Conference top playoff teams.

These are games that good teams should be winning. Bad teams don't win those type of games consistently. Even average teams do not have the ability to win those games consistently. We are winning those games.

We're 6-4, so it's not like we're winning anything consistently.

Who needs them when you have Jared Sullinger, Marcus Smart, and Jae Crowder...

I think "Baby Hawks," (the moniker that people were using in pre-season) is closer, with the addendum that the Celts are playing defense like the Bucks last year, or the Heat during their championship runs.  Aggressive, attacking passing lanes, thriving by forcing tons of turnovers.

Comparisons to the Spurs always break down when we recall that unlike the Spurs, the Celts entirely lack elite scoring options, and particularly lack big men with the ability to take advantage of individual matchups inside.
