Towns looks like a star already.

Wiggins is on his way.

Lavine looks pretty darn good, too.  Much better than I expected he'd be.  Also, I really like Nemanja Bjelica, who looks like a really nice player.

The Timberwolves are a fun team.  They'll be dangerous sooner rather than later.  They're already actually not terrible. Possibly even competitive.

Basically, the Timberwolves are the team I think the Sixers wanted to be by this point in time.  Just shows you that luck makes a far bigger difference in rebuilding than anything else.  Though, credit to Flip for making the most of the Love situation.

Towns is going to be an absolute stud.   You could see the potential oozing from him while at Kentucky last year.  Glad to see it already starting to come to fruition.

Good for T-Wolves fans too.

I have Towns in a dynasty league so I'm VERY excited by his play.  I know no one cares about other people's fantasy leagues, but so what.

The Wolves I would say are dangerous already, at least on a game-by-game basis - they can beat anybody on a given night.  Even the Warriors had trouble shaking them despite playing well.  A really nice blend of vets and 1st/2nd year guys out there.  And they still have Pek and K-Mart as possible trade chips, plus whichever young guys they decide to cut bait on (Muhammad and Dieng seem like likely candidates).  Very bright future there.

Towns = MVP caliber prospect
Wiggins = Paul George level prospect

I'd agree with this.

The thing about that team, too, is there's no way to duplicate that.  It's not even like with the Thunder where they got really good players in the top 5 but never had a #1 pick.

How do you build a young team with tons of promise?  Uh, well, acquire three straight #1 overall picks to build your team around.

But man, I look at the Wolves and can't help thinking -- that's what we want.  That's the goal, to have a team like that to watch turn into a contender.

Of course, it could all go off the rails.  Who knows.  They're the T-Wolves.

Yup and they even had the normal 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 bust with one of those picks.

To be fair, one of those #1s didn't contribute, isn't on the team anymore, and shouldn't have been a #1 pick to begin with.  And that was already known when they got him.  Bennett was more of a salary dump than an asset in that trade.

Wiggins is 20 and Towns is 19.  Both of them have a chance to be superstars in this league.   Wouldn't be shocked to see them in the playoffs within the next couple years.  This kind of stuff usually happens quicker than you'd assume.  Lebron made the playoffs in year 3.  Durant made it in year 3.   It would be hard to find a duo in this league with more potential.

The wolves actually look semi decent already.  I figure they will be up and down all season, but don't we get their 1st rounder if they finish outside the bottom 12 this year (otherwise it becomes two 2nd rounders)...   No guilt in rooting for these guys this year.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Flip Saunders has left a possible dynasty behind in Minny.
To turn Kevin Love and a year of tanking into these two monsters was basically the only fortune that this organization has had since KG, and the additions of Sprewell and Marbury.

I actually think Wiggins has potential to be the best player in the NBA. He's got the athletic potential and he's 20 years old.

Same thing for Towns- who looks like an absolute diamond right now- even more so than Wiggins.

Two studs that highlight the power of the number one pick in the NBA draft.
If they don't make you get excited about this Nets pick potentially being up there then I don't know what will.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Paul George is an MVP level prospect. We last saw him as a 23 year old, and he was around the 10th best player in the league. This year, he's showing signs he's made a major leap offensively. We don't really know what his ceiling is yet, but he's clearly a superstar.

I see Wiggins ceiling being as a third team all NBA level player.

What is exciting is that the Wolves may very well be better than bottom 12. We have legitimate hope for a late lottery pick from them.

No disrespect meant to Paul George (I'd take him on the Celtics any day), but Wiggins at 20 is performing like George at 22.  If he only improves a little, maybe he'll peak at Paul George, but again, he's 20, and has ton of growth ahead of him, both in terms of skill as well as just physically.

if the Season ended today they'd be in the playoffs and we'd get their 1st.  Still way too early but I wouldn't rule out them finishing outside the bottom 12.  There's a chance that Wiggins and towns click over the second half. There's a surprising amount of depth on that team and a solid veteran presence as well.

And no one has even mentioned their current most important player, 25 year old Ricky Rubio.  When he plays their offense is significantly better, and he's a very good defender.  They can beat almost anyone on any given night.  I think if Ricky plays in 75+ games Celtics fans will be talking about possibly getting this pick right up to the last few weeks/days of the season.  I love this teams future.
