I dunno,  Young looked pretty good there.   He's got a smooth jumper.   I think he plays at a Paul Pierce type pace actually.
Pierce is a very slow driver also, but his first step is faster, obviously he is smarter, and very importantly he has a big strong body to create space and take contact.  The type of drives from the Young highlights won't work very well in the NBA.

I think he looks fine for a still developing 20 yr old.

The shot looks good.

Like Stevens says...let's focus on the development process and not the results.

It's disappointing how poor the quality of play in the D League is.  It doesn't appear to be much of a challenge for fringe NBA players.  I'm not sure how much benefit players like Young get from playing there.

I'm curious to how competitive people here feel it is.  How does it compare to top 20 ranked college teams?  I've always assumed it was more competitive, but now I'm beginning to think top college teams might be favored against them.

It is a higher level of play with better athletes than college so while not as valuable as playing time in the NBA, they should be able to develop there just as well and likely better than they would in college and is certainly preferable than sitting on the bench in a suit.  Since the Cs own the red claws, they also have an NBA caliber assistant coaching staff that models the same system coached by Stevens.

Any notable stats for either of them?

Young was only 10-23 from the field, but he did get to the line a lot and went 7-8 there.

Most notable stat to me is, unfortunately, the final score. Young and Mickey were on the floor for almost the entire game, took almost half of the team's shots, and filled up the stat sheet. They lost.

Would really like to see some of this frontcourt logjam get cleared out at some point this season & see Mickey get some worthwhile minutes on the C's.

The Triboy smear campaign against James Young is on now that Young is competing with Mickey for an active roster spot.

Young's highlights looked pretty good. I would like to see more of him playing off the pick and roll. Honestly with how badly we are shooting the 3 it might not be the worst idea to give Young a look. Right now all his points come off spot up 3's and transition, but if he's a threat to knock down 3's he might open up offense for others.

Mickey is so smooth in the pick and roll and great on defense. I think he will eventually get some run this year as a second unit small ball 5. I don't see Stevens playing him over Lee or Zeller. Since he doesn't have 3 point range, he will need to play next to another big that does. Early on in the season our offense has looked bad with two roll men/paint bigs on the court at the same time. Since Mickey is one of those guys he is behind a lot of other players for playing time.

At some point I see Mickey playing the same role that Lee is currently playing. But that probably won't be until 2 bigs get hurt or 2 get traded.

Mickey looks tight, solid.

The Young highlights scare me. MAN does he look slow.

Perhaps the biggest variable determining the level of contribution a player will make on a team is pecking order (as opposed to skill).  That is, all these guys can play and score.  The question is, are they good enough to earn those shots?

Having a floater is nice but I'd rather see him getting all the way to the rim and finishing there.

Video of Mickey working on getting a 3pt shot (missed every one of them LOL), he took 1 last night. I think he will eventually get it.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Hopefully Mickey gets better at it. But if not, it doesn't matter

Not every frontcourt you have on the team has to be able to make the 3

It may be hard for Mickey to plant his feet given that he walks on water.  ;)

Jordan Mickey highlights from yesterday.  It's a good one.  Nice to see he has incorporated a 3 pt shot into his game.  19 pts, 7 bs
