Even I concede, he is playing harder on D, this was always my beef with him.   He will never be a good defensive player  and struggles to rotate on help but this year I can see him trying.   I think he is moving better and taking off plays.   He has always had talent but this year he has some effort with that talent.   He was heavier when he started camp but seems to have trimmed down.  I think he actually bottomed out in Europe.  This woke him up that he was not the chosen one.   He has played well ever since with the exception of a one game where he shot poorly but that happens to everyone.

Hopefully, all of this will stop him from being complacent.  I think many of us have our doubts given his past history.  But one never knows, he could have folded up and rolled in a ball after Europe and he came back out swinging and handled that adversity well.

For Sullinger to remain on this team I think we need a player who is indisputably better than him.

One of the most frustrating parts of last year was that right this team started clicking and just as Oly/Zeller/Jonas/Bass were completely settled into their roles, Sullinger clumsily forced himself back in the roster, playing so well at times that he ate into other's playing time.

By the time we hit the Cavs, Sulley was back to being out "best big man" but in the process threw everyone else off their game and we were back to losing despite Sulley's strong stats. (not saying we would have beat the Cavs but I'd take 11 guys on the same page over 12 and everyone looking over their shoulder.)

What we need IMO is a big like Al Horford, Demarcus Cousins or Lamarcus Aldridge. Someone who can see Sullinger starting to turn it on in a reserve role and know that no matter how well he does, their playing time is safe.

If we can get that guy and Sullinger establishes himself as one of the league's best 6th man we'd have a tremendous asset to spell the starters and change the offensive output for stretches of important games. If not all we'll have is more questions and frankly IMO we've reached the point in the rebuild where it's time to start finding answers.

You mean the Cavs team whose bigs NO ONE in our team could defend or rebound against, but an out of shape and rusty Sully? That's your beef? OK.

agreed - I don't follow how Sully playing well enough to justify playing time is a problem.  If Sully's outplaying every other big, which he did in the playoffs and is doing again this year, he should be playing.  The defense is better.  He's always been our best rebounder and had the best touch around the basket to score.  He's a very good passing big man.  He plays a solid game.

I'd be thrilled if we had someone better than Sully because that would mean we'd have an all-star on the team.  Until we get that type of player, Sully's pretty solid and should continue to be so -- contract year or not.

Sully on the most part has played well over the last few years. His injuries an then gaining weight hurt him and could stay on the floor.

He also would have mental lapses that brought him down a bit for stretch's and then he would snap out of them and play really well afterwards.

I have a feeling were he didn't play ball a lot over the summer, at least not as much at the others, made him rusty. Having Amir and Lee come in knock down his confidence this preseason. But he worked back into the line up, he's not hot, he's just determined and maybe now has it figured out.

And this coming from a guy who was thinking KO surpassed him, but now I think Sully has been out playing on the most part, and it might be time to see if Utah is still interested in KO. LOL Of course than might change if KO goes off for 25pt with 8ast in the next game. :P

Sully he up for a contract. I personally think he is playing for that and not the love of the game. We shall see if does and signs if he grows. I would sell high and see if we could get a pick in 2019 draft. I hope I am wrong and he becomes a bull of a player.
