Can someone please extrapolate how we can go from our existing 15 players while adding 6 or 7 more drafted players without having to burn or waste assets in the form of either draft picks or valuable players we currently have on the team?
Evan Turner --> expiring
David Lee --> expiring
Amir Johnson --> non-guaranteed second year
Jonas Jerebko --> non-guaranteed second year
Jared Sullinger --> could leave as a RFA
Tyler Zeller --> could leave as a RFA
Chances are there'll be a trade to consolidate picks and players.
There are "useful" players on that list, as you note, but they are also "easily replaceable / redundant" players.
I think you're correct to point out that other teams will understand that the Celts have a surplus of assets and will use that as leverage. They know we can't keep all of these guys, or use all of our picks.
That's part of why Danny was willing to throw 4 picks at the Hornets to move up in the draft, I'd imagine.
