  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
What about Kris Dunn?  He's a 6'4" true point guard out of Providence with a 6'9" wingspan.  He has the size and length to gaurd NBA 2's.  That might play well with our current guards who tend to be more of the combo guard type.

Draftexpress currently has him #7 while NBA Draft Net has him at #14.

Yeah, I'm on board with this as well.

A legitimate PG with the size to play both Guard spots if needed. Playmaking ability. I'm sold.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

We have too many guards, but my binky is Newman, so be it...

Other binky is Diallo, but might not fit the Celts schemes unless there's major
defensive versatility in him (ala WCS).

If Sully or Olly is traded definitely bring on Ellenson.

Damian Jones or Diamond Stone would be perfect with the Mavs pick. They'd go nicely with Smart and Simmons/Brown/Skal/Ingram.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

no matter what happens, Danny will draft 2 or 3 point guards.

So far I have no complaints bout the last 3 guards we drafted with exclusion of Thorton. if there BPA then so be it!!

I know one thing, never count on players without fairly easy to pronounce names. I have noticed that the NBA has so few players with offbeat names. I wonder why that is, there has to be good players out there with names you need to think about and/or hear someone else say first in order for you to say it. Every year I hear a strange name hyped but they never make it in or they don't stay, I'm starting to think it has to do with jerseys and the money to be made LOL. I can't think of one truly "weird" named player DA has brought aboard, Giannis had no chance hahaaa.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Not a fan of Newman.  He's a chucker that from I have seen has trouble getting to the rim.  Most of the shots I see him take against good competition show him launching deep threes with hands in his face.  Good for him for making some of them but not exactly high percentage shots.  He also seems to need the ball in his hands a lot to be productive.

Pass.

Kelly Okynyk is pretty weird.  Can't tell by the name if it's male or female, or what nationality it is.

He's still listed as 6' 10" on many draft sites, but a year ago at the USA Basketball camp, Oct 3 2014, he was measured at:  7'0" w/shoes, 7' 3.5" wingspan, 246 lbs.  Those were the same measurements for Karl Townes at that age.  He's still 18 years old today (turns 19 in Feb) so he could definitely still be growing).

His game is somewhat reminiscent of a young Kendrick Perkins (he's a physical banger and plays right near the post on both ends), complete with a bit of excess around the waistline, but longer, probably a bit more athletic, and with better hands and at least a competent dribble.   He dabbled with a top-of-the-key outside shot as the trailer on breaks, but his outside shot will still need development at Maryland.  His form is not bad.  Just raw.  He's great near the basket because he 'stays high'.  He puts rebounds back fast without bringing it down (Tommy H. will like that) and he tends almost always to slam with two hands (Brandon Bass style) whether going up or on a drive, so he doesn't miss dunks show-boating (nothing is more aggravating than watching a one-handed dunk bounce out off the back rim).

His biggest value is probably on the defensive end.  He projects to be an excellent, shot-blocking defensive big and may be the answer to, "What if Robert Upshaw didn't have all those off-the-court issues?"

(I lived in MD for a long time and still check in on Terp basketball occasionally, so have scouted Stone since he committed).

My only big caveat about Stone is that, as said, his body seems to still be rapidly changing and one potential issue is his waistline.   But he's so young that could go either way.  My opinion on him as an NBA prospect will probably solidify more further into the season.  I know, not terribly original.

Right now,  I'd have him in the 10-12 range, so definitely someone to watch for that Mavs pick.  But who knows where he'll be by next Spring?  Things can change a lot.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Spectacular post Chambers --  TP!  Since I know nothing about college players, I am grateful  for your insights.  If you havent done so already, I'd like to see your top 5.   Please send me link if you've already posted your top 5 analysis.

Since we know for a fact that ALL NBA players are male, that is thrown out. Then we see Kelly and we know that the majority of people with that name are white. Then Olynyk sounds Irish. Both names are easily pronounceable and Olynyk is slightly less so because of the way they chose to say the "y."

Easy name.

Really enjoyed this post after reading it.  After I looked at the most recent mock draft as of right now, of course will change.  But I liked how they had us picking, but also would like to make some changes.

http://www.nbadraft.net/2016mock_draft

Boston Drafting
#1, 8, 14, 23 in the first round
#32, 44, 46, 57 in the second round

#1 - Ben Simmons
#8 - Ivan Rabb
#14 - Kris Dunn
#23 - Malik Pope
#32 - EC Matthews
#44 - Kyle Wiltjer
#46 - Amida Brimah
#57 - Zach Auguste

What I'd like to draft, some of these would have to fall or reach a little for us to but who knows.  We're going to be trading some I'm sure because we don't have the roster room for 8 draft picks.

#1 - Ben Simmons - This would be an amazing fit for us to land.  He's a starting power forward, can be a rim protector and can be a great scorer.  The videos on this kid, have me hoping we get the number 1 for him
#8 - Damian Jones - Projected at 4 to the 76ers but would love for him to fall 4 spots.  If have to trade up to 4 trading the 8th and maybe the 57th.  He's a more traditional center, rim protector, great frame to be a solid center for the future.
#14 - Be looking to trade this pick for a good first rounder next year.  The player I'm eyeing in the next draft is Thon Maker.  I know mixtapes can be deceiving but I'd be willing to take a chance on a 7 footer who can shot, handle, block and rebound as they show him.
#23 - Taurean Prince - A senior at Baylor who's a hard defender, who plays a position of need at small forward.  He's projected at #28 but I'd be willing to take him at 23.
#32 - AJ Hammons - If we don't get Damian Jones this is the other center in the draft I'm big on.  Hammon is 7'0, 280 and an elite shot blocker.  Bigger sizer then we have had at center in a long time, but he's still able to run the floor.  If we got to trade #8 and #14 for a star I'm happy to do that with us drafting Simmons, Prince and Hammons in this draft at this point.
#44 - Gary Payton II - If he could fall be willing to take him even though a point guard.  Maybe be able to trad Rozier in a package deal with picks to get the star we need.  I'm a Smart and IT fan for our point guard, hated the Rozier draft.  (Just a personal preference)
#46 - Trade Away
#57 - Trade Away

Ellenson looks intriguing but I watched videos and I was like who was he playing against?   That level of competition was pretty poor.    I want to see him play in the NCAAs and see if he looks that good.
