Just goes to show you how freakin good guys that make even the end of the bench in the NBA are compared to the rest of the world at playing basketball. Only 420 guys good enough to play in the NBA each year on this planet and Young and Mickey are two of them.

I don't get how Young can score at ease in the D-League, but in summer league he struggled. Our Rooks out played him in Las Vegas. Then in preseason he should do well against the other teams scrubs, but did just okay.

I want the kid to do well, but and it still may take an other year, but when does that start getting into his head and he can't perform on the big stage?

I have a feeling he's going to be a chip using the D-League to make him look promising. Hunter has already surpassed him, yes he's older, but he has way more game than Young does right now. Right now if I had to pick between Young or Hunter to go forward with, it would be Hunter.

Mickey DA should hold on to unless a great deal pops up and Mickey has to be part of it, not sure who would do that so it's safe to say Mickey should be here for a couple more years. Just need a consistent 18 footer.

The leap into the NBA and proving you belong is pretty awesome . 

I watch Ken Bazemore play in College .....I attended games.   He never was the best player on the court ...skill wise  .  But I knew he was going to succeed .  He just had that ....I can 't fail attitude when he  played .   And ....I always thought he was a bit tubby looking in College .  Amazing transformation.   These guys can do this to .  They just have to want it bad.

There are tons of guys out there who could play in the NBA on the right team and circumstances.  Look at Whiteside who was floating around the d league and overseas.  That doesn't diminish how great these guys are, but I'd bet there are another 420 at least.  Not stars, but role players.

I want to give up on James Young, but then I remember how bad Bradley was as a rookie. If he doesn't show anything this year in the NBA, I agree he is probably traded or we go through this waiting game another year until he is simply not resigned or he wakes up like Avery did.

I thought Fab Melo was pretty good based on those monster D-League games. I guess I was wrong. We just don't know. I do know that Danny likes to have movable contracts of all denominations to facilitate trades.

Young was drafted very young. He has always been a long term project and has made some useful contributions at the NBA level, though he obviously still has a way to go. What I like about Young and a lot of our young squad, is that they are only going to get better. We will be more of a contender next season with AB, Sully, Smart, KO,  Young and our more recent draft picks a NBA season older. If we get the 'stars' we hope for then, we will be better than we would have been getting a big name before this season. And yes, I still see improvement in AB and Sully.

This is the sort of build where you can suddenly find you have bench guys who would be starters in many other teams. I know we are some way from that but we are heading that way. And right at the time when there will be more cap space to accommodate a solid squad.

From January until a bit in March of last year he got PLENTY of room to make mistakes playing for the Celtics. He simply didn't deliver.

Well we know he can hit the 3 from NBA range. We know that he has the physical tools to be special at the 2. He could really use a good game in the NBA to get his confidence.

his defence was so bad ,his ball handling and he had no game--he really needs to work on what he doesn't do well and keep lifting and doing lateral and core exercises--he can increase his vertical  agility ,lateral and quickness-he is lucky he joined the celts and has red claws-otherwise he would be long gone-

We were going to have to have 2 inactive guys every game to start the season anyway. I'm glad that Mickey and Young can get their confidence up while they wait for a trade or someone to get injured.

My only worry is that Young gets his shots so easy in transition in the d-league, then thinks he will be able to easily get his shots in the NBA. If he is going to be a good NBA player he will need to work harder to get good shots off the ball.

It won't be easy. NBA is a faster pace game.  He just needs to make sure to nail the open shots 7 out of 10 tries

Then once teams respect this, he can think about getting a little more creative like he is in the nbdl
