Just wondering if the 76er's have LA's top pick next year?  If so, they are destined to be a powerhouse next year.  Especially if they sign Saric and possibly some of their other Euro players.

It's top 3 protected for this year and next, but yes. I dispute Philly being a powerhouse next year with a bunch of 20-22 year olds on the court, though I suppose they could easily shuffle some pieces and pull off a few trades.

This pretty much covers everything concerning future draft picks owed around the league.

Even in the best case scenario (Saric comes over, Embiid can play and they get a top 3 pick from LA), Philly is still going to stink next season.  It's just that they might struggle to win 30 games instead of 20.

It's really two and three years down the road that look bright...IF everything goes their way.  But if Noel, for example, decides to pull a Greg Monroe and leave, they are screwed.

Philly needs the other things that go with would be hopeful Stars to win a title.

Other than the stupidity of NO trading Noel for a guard ...I don't see a lot of brain power going on. .....that was pure luck ....no sane GM would have done that trade.

A real GM , grownup owners , a real coach ,  a reputation for previous success .

A group of first round draft picks is NOT enough to make Philly a basketball destination.   Maybe LA or NY .....not Philly they screwed around too, many years.

Yes fans will forget in time , but it will take a while maybe a decade to turn the WHOLE deal about face.

I also believe .....Oakfor and Noel will jump ship .   Any player that actually cares about winning wouldn't want to seriously be on that team.  Maybe Melo ....who,is driven by money and comfort more than on court success .   Non team player .

Not fair to compare to Monroe. Detroit treated Monroe like trash for years. If they were committed to Monroe, they could have kept him. They weren't. Years of being treated like just an 'asset' instead of the future of the organization will make a player leave.

greatest site for Celtics fans this year, aside from CB of course.

TP  Initially thought the URL you posted was a fictitious humor site you make up. Good to know there is always someone one step ahead of the crowd.

The Sixers not only get the Lakers' pick if it's not in the top 3, but they can swap with the Kings' pick no matter where it falls.  That seems more likely with Sacramento starting so poorly.  Could potentially be an even bigger draft year for them than for us.

Sacto may have only 1 win, but Philly is 0-6. Sacto would have to get worse for the sixers to swap.

Well it's ultimately determined by how the lottery goes.

Philly has the same problem, though.  Both Noel and Okafor are really centers and it's hard to see them playing together long term.  Philly only has Noel locked up for two years after this one, including his qualifying offer.  That means they'll need to commit max or near max dollars in a contract extension to Noel by next year, when they will still suck.

How excited will Noel be to stick around?  What if Philly winds up picking ANOTHER center in the 2016 draft?  Who even knows when Hinkie will call off the tank?

I agree Noel is in the same boat as of right now. But sometimes guys go for the $ and he may stay. But Hinkie is more likely flip Noel to another team for a projected high first at deadline this year. Clearly Okafor, Embid and Noel isn't going to work all are Centers and the league is small ball driven. But he won't be sending any of the three to C's.

From where I'm sitting, the Sixers are in great position. If they get lucky with this Lakers pick, they'll add 2 more top 6 picks to a team that has two terrific young players in Noel and Okafor. They should also be adding Saric either next season or the season after. If the pieces don't fit together, for whatever reason, they can trade them for pieces that do fit.

If things break ok for them (I'm just righting off Embiid entirely) they could be competing for a playoff spot next season and competing for a championship in 3 years, and for the decade following.

Yeah, that was my point, thanks.  If both teams miss the playoffs Philly effectively has both their top-3 chances and Sacramento's.  Excluding the odd case where they both make the top 3 but Philly places higher.  I should've specified a swap seems more likely than it did in the offseason.

Yeah, the unprotected pick does improve lottery odds. Even an extra 2% chance would be welcome by Philly.
