According to Mike Mazzeo, the Nets have announced that Lopez has a sore foot. As you know, Lopez has had multiple foot injuries and surgeries in his career.

I really want Lopez to be healthy. He is the most skilled offensive true center in the NBA. It is refreshing to see a guy succeed, not because he has been anointed the next big man sensation because of raw athleticism, but because of ability, moves, and touch.

All of that being said, it really bodes well for our pick.

Boogie Cousins is a better offensive Center.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Great pick aside he does need to consider his long term mobility. It's a better league with Brook Lopez at full strength, but an 82 game season deals serious strain on the joints.

For what it's worth, hope his career is more Ilgauskas like than Yao. The low post movement needs players like him.

I'm not sure that a fresh stress fracture would show up on an x ray.

i want nets to lose all games with a fully healthy team. the nba is hard to get into and stay in, dont want an injury to stop a very good player.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Yeah they won't always show unless a serious crack opens up.
If his foot is sore and there is nothing on the X Ray then he is going to be in pain and far less effective.

I think Hollins is going to run him into the ground. He needs the wins and he knows if Lopez goes down, that he's got even more excuse for them sucking so badly.

Poor guy. They are one of the hardest injuries to get over.
I'm pretty sure it's the same injury that ended Yao Ming's career.

If we consider that he's playing 35 minutes a game over an 82 game season, even if he plays 40 games (less than half), he's running around on a hard wood floor for a total of 23.3 hours.

With feet that big and injury history on that left foot, something is almost certain to go wrong.

not sure if everyone watched it, but this wasn't after the game. He actually left the court and went to the trainers room before the game ended. First round of x Rays are negative. The foot is sore though and he's likely to sit out. Who knows how many games though.

On the Nets RealGM some posters are saying they'll keep him out at least a week to be careful.

They also said that the last time Lopez missed significant time, the first report was a 'sore foot but X rays are negative'.

I think Brook Lopez is a terrible player. Some parts of his offense are decent at best but he is pretty poor in all other aspects of the game. Plus he is so [dang] slow.

I predicted this would happen .

Hollins has his butt in a sling .....play n Lopez like a 22 year old LeBron 40 minutes a  night or get fired .......kn ew this isn't going to work .

Now he will get fired and Nets loose value in Lopez as trade bait.

The dude is damaged goods .   Never ending foot issues.

Lopez would make a great bench backup ...for a couple 8-10 minute runs a game.....to keep him healthy.

So ....I said Nets should have traded him for the best deal possible early on .......TOO late ......now GMs see the car with the damaged transmission that slips when worked too hard.

Best they ll get is a later first rounder or more bench scrubs.

He can't stay on the floor as the teams go to man .  He is a backup center , who,has to,take,it easy.

I think starting Bargnani and letting Lopez work the bench would be an excellent idea.

If he was healthy, I'd really like to have Lopez.  His rebounding and defense have actually been pretty good the last two seasons.  He's turned into a complete center.

But, there are huge risks.  There are the repeated foot injuries, which could force his retirement at any moment.  He's going to get a huge contract, which compounds the injury concerns.  Lastly, there's always that concern that he's going to regress to his former softness / disinterest at any moment.

But, based on the past two seasons, Lopez has been a quite valuable player.  Too bad he's on the Nets.

I see this as less of a concern that it used to be. He used to show stretches of being a good rebounder and defender for a short period of time and then would regress back to his soft old finesse ways. Over the last few years though he seems to have matured both mentally and physically to the point where he now knows how to use his giant frame to carve out easy buckets for himself, and make life difficult for people shooting around the rim.

He's averaging about 20/8/1.7 a game and it doesn't look like he killing himself out there to get it. Even if he's not the most interested player on the court he still is capable of being a productive player at the 5.
