Regardless of how you feel about what his future is in the NBA, can you guys atleast agree now that his play earlier was just a slump?

Wiggins/Towns = Future NBA greatness. Couldn't be happier for the Timberwolves.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Yeah, he is looking pretty amazing recently. A couple of games don't make you a star, but he was ROY and he should be able to keep improving. He has all the potential in the world.

He's been great the last few games - Hawks wings could not keep him from his shots down the stretch and they were playing pretty well positionally.

Towns is still a bit raw but he's catching up fast.  He's going to be a complete monster out there.  Like lower middle-class man's Anthony Davis good.  Could even wind up a debate between the two though it's nowhere near time to go there yet.

Timberwolves future looks very bright.  Sad Flip won't get to see it.

Funny how often things go like that huh.

I don't know how good Wiggins will be but at the time of trade, I thought CLE should not have given him up.

All I can say though is "Top 12 Protected".  Go Andrew, go Timberwolves!!  Bring that #13 or #14 home to the Celtics.

Wiggins will be a star.  This thread was premature and foolish.
I've been lurking this forum before signing up. I have no dog in the hunt for this topic, but aren't you the guy who said Embiid would be okay and the Nets would win 35-40 games? You are calling this thread premature and foolish? I think the idea of Embiid coming back this year and that the Nets can win a decent amount of games some of the worst time wasting ideas I've ever come across.

This is nothing personal and I wish you the best. But do you have any other ideas that are foolish? Not you of course. As in I am sure you aren't calling the person who started this "foolish thread" foolish.

We saw enough of Wiggins last season to show the kid has all the makings of a future star in this league. There are few prospects with as much potential and his rookie numbers were fantastic.  His shooting percentages were better than a lot of guys at the same point like Durant and Lebron.  Sure, there are no guarantees he will reach his potential, but the reason this thread was premature and foolish was because it was created after 4 games where Wiggins (playing injured) struggled.  4 bad games does not negate everything we already knew about him.  He followed up those 4 games with two excellent games.  The wolves are actually looking pretty good.  Between Wiggins and towns, it's hard to beat that team's future.

That said, I'm wrong about things all the time.  For example, I wasn't ready to fully give up on Anthony Bennett and he looks dreadful so far this year.   Maybe it's time to give up on him.

As for Embiid, I merely was relaying what was coming from the team. Everyone was just speculating. I was relaying the fact that embiid felt fine, was walking without a boot, running around and dunking and telling everyone around him he was ok.  Turns out, I was right. Months later all this info was confirmed.  What I didn't know, and what nobody here guessed, was that the team was flat out lying about his condition, potentially lying about whether or not he rebroke it (months later and there is still no confirmation) and that embiid was running around and dunking without a boot in spite of his team. This is something that nobody predicted.  There isn't a single person outside of philly who had a read on what was actually happening.  So whatever.  For all we know, he still has a productive career.

As for Brooklyn, I'm as giddy as everyone else that they started 1-7, but it was only a couple years ago that they started something like 2-17 and finished the season above .500.   I'm not holding by breathe.  The eastern conference is garbage and that team is still plenty capable of going on a run.

Only Philadelphia is outright tanking and maybe Noel/Okafor get it done ahead of schedule. All those "garbage" teams you mention are licking their chops over Brooklyn. They beat Houston in it's called a trap game.

The Lakers are bad? That sounds accurate.

That's three teams I see as pitiful including themselves. I will be shocked if Brooklyn ever wins three in a row. Maybe they will win 20 games tops, imho. 15-25 Brooklyn wins sounds about right to me. What do they get, two games against the Lakers and some number against Philly?

You can't rely on one player who isn't even a top player. Lopez. He's not a LeBron who would seemingly turn any roster into an immediate playoff team. You might want to start working on a mea culpa thread, just in case the Nets start out 3-24.

13.8 ppg, 4 rpg, 6.95 per, and shooting 29% fg's, 11% 3pt fg's so far this year .

I said it last year that I wasn't really impressed by him and thought he was kind of soft and passive . People on here insisted he is going to be a star, but i'm just not seeing it . His ceiling to me at this point is Demar Derozen .

Why is he struggling so much?
rondohondo... genuinely curious if you still think Wiggins doesn't look like a future star.  He followed up his 4 game slow start (where he was playing with back pain) by averaging the following over the past 7 games:  26 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists on 49% shooting and 47% from three.   Are you seeing it yet or are you still not impressed?  He's 20 years old.  His ceiling seems as high to me as any player in the league.
